Isa vs. Dude24 - PO League, Game 3

This game was deciding whether Dude24 would beat me in the PO League (and get the gym badge) or not, and it was a great fight that rounded up an amazing set, where I had made a lucky comeback in game 2, relying on a paralyzed Jynx at ~52% to Counter a Tauros Body Slam that dealt close to minimum damage - had it dealt more I would have died - after losing handily in game 1. It was not going to be an easy battle, as I had made it to game three just barely.

I wanted to see if he'd push his luck and use an attack here, but he did not, so I don't know if he carries Night Shade or not. I'd prefer to have my Alakazam stay fresh - it's my fastest Pokémon by far, and it deals with Gengar like it's nothing, so this is not something I want to duel with.

The foe's Rhydon lost 60% of its health!
This must be a very good trade for me. While I have plenty of ways to deal with Rhydon, I don't want him running around doing damage to whatever he feels like. Meanwhile, I can always recover my lost HP if I get in on Lapras, Gengar, Chansey or Exeggutor, so I'm glad to make this trade.
He also dealt close to the minimum amount of damage with EQ, which is neat as the damage range is quite big. Now Lapras cannot 2HKO me without some very lucky BSlam rolls, whereas it'd easily could have if I'd have taken 61% rather than 51% of damage.

Tauros used Body Slam!
It had no effect on the foe's Gengar!
Right, chain-switch to Gengar. He needed to take the route over Eggy, as a Blizzard could have put him in range of EQ. However, he still gambled heavily as I could easily have used Blizzard again on Exeggutor, but it worked out for him.

Isa- called Exeggutor back!
Isa- sent out Alakazam!
I didn't really appreciate this switch. Nevertheless, knowing what Gengar has, I can accept paralysis, and I need to get his Chansey paralyzed, so there's nothing more to it than just an exchange of status on my mind here. I also lack good options, so really, I have no choice but to trade TWaves.

So he stays in and battles, that's interesting. I get a neat Spec drop too. He'll probably heal up here, so it's time to reveal my hidden Pokémon.
Start of turn 26
Isa- called Alakazam back!
Isa- sent out Rhydon!
The foe's Chansey used Softboiled!
The foe's Chansey regained health!
Awesome. Go Rhydon.
Dude24 is more or less forced to take a big hit on something that does not want to take a hit here, or sacrifice his sleeping Exeggutor. His Lapras is paralyzed and in range of a 2HKO through EQ+RSlide, so that won't do. Tauros is his best option here, but if I use BSlam, he could be crippled by paralysis.
Start of turn 27
Rhydon used Earthquake!
The foe's Chansey lost 58% of its health!
The foe's Chansey used Ice Beam!
It's super effective!
Rhydon lost 175 HP! (42% of its health)
This is why the Spec drop mattered - I have 20% more HP remaining than I should have. I have a chance to live Tauros Blizzard from here among other neat things.

The sacrificial lamb comes in. He cannot sacrifice his Chansey as he has nothing else that heals up, so he was forced to make a switch. Tauros was probably the correct move though.

A shame that I don't get the paralysis, but I got 22% on his Tauros, I'll take it.

Start of turn 32
Isa- called Rhydon back!

Not what I needed at all. However, we're both in possession of a Rhydon, so HBeam is risky for both of us. I expected him to go to his Rhydon here, while I don't know what he expected to be honest.

I live with only 3%. A maximum roll could have killed me, so I was lucky. Question is if I go Rhydon or not, but given that CRay is a jerk, I decide not to. If I lose the speed tie the game is over.

Isa- sent out Alakazam!
The foe's Lapras used Body Slam!
Alakazam lost 94 HP! (30% of its health)
Lapras forces my Tauros out, but fortunately, I have my trusty Zam. Even if he takes a chunk from Lapras, I can capitalize on it and deal enough damage for Tauros (and Rhydon) to kill it in one shot.
Start of turn 40
Alakazam used Psychic!
The foe's Lapras lost 29% of its health!
The foe's Lapras's Special fell!
The foe's Lapras is paralyzed! It can't move!
Great! Now he's dead if I get another Psychic off, and he has no switches, everything dies to a Psychic bar his Chansey, which will take enough for me to be able to go Rhydon or Tauros safely and try my luck.

Isa-: this is intense
Dude24: yeah
No point in going Tauros as he'd live HBeam after healing up. I at least get another spec drop, and he cannot switch out unless he wants to sacrifice something, so I feel good about my position for the first time since the freeze on Snorlax, even though I am still in a rough spot.
Start of turn 43
Dude24 called Chansey back!
Dude24 sent out Lapras!

I get to heal up and he decides to sacrifice his Lapras to get something in on my Zam. It was probably his best bet now that his Chansey got to heal up to ~75%.

I could have fished for a paralysis by using Recover but decided not to take the risk of a CH Blizzard that'd only put me back. I'm still in a good position. He also could have had Rest, though unlikely, as he'd have used that the previous turn.

Dude24 sent out Tauros!
The Tauros ditto decides almost everything. It was not worth it to go Tauros for him if I had read it, whereas the game is now almost even, with me having a slight advantage, but his Tauros having a 55-45% of winning the ditto as I need to go for the HBeam whereas BSlam kills me.

The foe's Tauros used Earthquake!
Alakazam lost 134 HP! (42% of its health)
Alakazam used Thunder Wave!
The foe's Tauros is paralyzed! It may be unable to move!
I'm not sure if he knows how much damage Rhydon can deal to Tauros, because if he knew, he'd go for HBeam - to win I'd have to use BSlam and hope for the 30% chance of paralysis, as my EQ was around 7% short of being able to kill him. This now turns the game completely around.
The reason I went for TWave instead of Psychic was that Psychic had only ~50% of killing him instantly, after factoring in Critical Hits. TWave first allows me to finish him with Rhydon and then hope for Substitute luck versus Chansey if it would not kill.
EQ was just a blunder - BSlam would have been better in all scenarios.
Dude24: ahh

Right, chain-switch to Gengar. He needed to take the route over Eggy, as a Blizzard could have put him in range of EQ. However, he still gambled heavily as I could easily have used Blizzard again on Exeggutor, but it worked out for him.

Awesome.

No point in going Tauros as he'd live HBeam after healing up. I at least get another spec drop, and he cannot switch out unless he wants to sacrifice something, so I feel good about my position for the first time since the freeze on Snorlax, even though I am still in a rough spot.

The Tauros ditto decides almost everything. It was not worth it to go Tauros for him if I had read it, whereas the game is now almost even, with me having a slight advantage, but his Tauros having a 55-45% of winning the ditto as I need to go for the HBeam whereas BSlam kills me.
