Playstyles and Team Styles in RBY?

Thought it would be nice to reopen the discussion on playstyles and styles of teams in RBY. I've started teaching people here and there about RBY, working on a guide, etc. and I realise that I only really know fully certain aspects of RBY.. I don't think playstyles in RBY will ever be fully black and white, but there's definitely a fairly vivid scale of offense to defense, and then variations within offense [from marco's more special inclination in general, with starmie, zam, jolteon etc being fairly common at the moment, to isa's more physically aggressive focus ~ I think this is correct but if it isn't correct me], whilst I find myself to favour more defensive teams [I'm yet to go down toxic leech egg route though] and clever switching and generally I value a team more as a cohort of synergysing members that offer me a variety of options during battle, rather than so much of a focus on individual mons that perform their own singular jobs well versus any matchup. I also like playing wrap occasionally but tend to choke with it a lot :[ So, does anyone agree with me that playstyles in RBY are more well-defined?

Physical offense - Tauros+Lax+other primarily physical attackers like Rhydon/Golem, mixed attackers like Lapras and Zapdos, and at the more extreme end, pokemon such as raticate, dodrio, and kangaskhan
Special offense - the specfalling power of Zam/Mie commonplace, Slowbro and Jolteon are common options too.

Offense tends not to be directly falling into one category, but rather a mix of the two [the 'standard' build of lead/big 4/wildcard tends to be fairly in the middle, leaning towards physical offense maybe. But stuff like a kingler squad tends to be more physically oriented, whilst teams like marco's jolt lead zam etc team is definitely more specially oriented, for example. Specially offensive teams tend to be more defensive than physically offensive ones, since good specially offensive mons work well defensively also. Then you have more defensive stuff like lapras+rhydon cores, and then leech egg, reflect chansey, maybe toxic egg.. that seems to sorta define 'stall'.

Using modern generation definitions, all common teams in RBY are "Bulky Offense".

Full wrap to me feels like hyper offense and a team with like leech or leech toxic egg + chansey + other defensive stuff sounds more like stall in my opinion.. maybe not totally in line with the later definitions. I just feel that there actually is a distinction between 'stall' and 'offense' and that both are legitimate, and that it's not desperately unwise to label some teams as more physically/specially favoured.

It's an interesting topic sure, but I'm with Isa in that a team has to be very extreme to be anything but bulky offense. I mean yeah, you've got your Seed Egg teams as stall, and teams that pack lots of boomers/physical attackers at the offensive end of the spectrum, but overall teams play similarly if you want to frame it in modern terminology. It doesn't help that Lax/Egg/Chans/Taur is the vast majority of teams. Not saying every team's the same or anything like that, every team is at least subtly different.

Important things to consider:
What's their status plan? I would say generally that teams which aim to play for the freeze are more defensive in nature, with para-focused teams being more offensive. This isn't a strict rule though- SeedEgg teams can be a pain if they want by being really good at spreading para and using it to shut your offense down. I guess they're flexible in that regard. Point is, it's worth noting but not a strict thing.

hmm what else... early game is basically the above point, since everything revolves around status early on. Midgame and lategame are where you start looking for pokemon that are either capable of breaking holes in other teams, or cleaning up lategame. For instance the old standard of Zam/Egg/Chans/Lax/Gol/Taur I would consider an aggressive midgame team since you've got both Lax and Golem weakening the opposing walls. Lead/Egg/Chans/Lax/Taur/Persian is another team that's offensive, but more inclined to the lategame. By contrast something like Jynx/Egg/Chans/Lap/Don/Taur is an example of a more defensive team, since it's really just Don breaking things down- Lap plays a supporting role and provides additional defensive coverage
