RBY2K10 Tournament #3: Tradebacks Unfortunately, the remaining players haven't been active, so I'm ending this. Winner's Finals: Dexter Winner's Semis: Crystal / Zilch Loser's Quarters: Posthuman / Subsmoke / t3h Icy 7th: GGFan / Lolita Cute 9th: Nerd / WaterWizard Bracket:Well Pools ran much smoother this time; good job to everyone getting their sets done. As always all Bracket sets are best 2 of 3 except Winner's Finals, Loser's Finals and Grand Finals which are best 3 of 5. Good luck. Pools:I spread the players out more so there are fewer sets this time, meaning a faster tournament. All Pool sets are best 2 of 3. Good luck! ------------- Since only Posthuman is remaining in both tournaments at the time of posting this, I'm going to start the next major tournament. This is RBY with GSC Tradeback Moves legal. To use these in Netbattle, simply open Team Builder, click the Version tab, and select RBY with Trades. I'll make sure to run this tournament better this time. Sign-Ups:To sign up for the tournament you must be both active and registered here. If you're not active, it's too hard to get matches done and if you're not registered here, it's too hard to contact you. However, people tend to not have RBY as their life's priority, and if you're able to plan ahead and still show-up, you won't be DQ'd. So if we have to wait a week for a match to happen, but you do intend to actually show-up, that will be fine. Format:-Pools to determine tournament seeding -Double Elimination I'm going to cut down the size of Pools have just have more of them, so we don't get stuck waiting a month for people to finish. I'm learning...slowly. Sets:-Pool sets are best 2 of 3-Bracket sets except finals are best 2 of 3 -Winner's Finals, Loser's Finals and Grand Finals are all best 3 of 5 -Each player is in the tournament until that player has lost two sets in the brackets (in other words, double elimination) -Each player can switch teams between matches of the same set Rules:-Sleep Clause -Freeze Clause -Self-KO Clause -Apply PP UPs -Battle Timeout -Mewtwo and Mew are not allowed -Duplicates of the same Pokemon are not allowed -GSC Tradeback moves are allowed. For a list, view this topic. -Double Team and Minimize are not allowed (Evasion Clause) -Horn Drill, Fissure and Guillotine are not allowed -Wrap, Bind, Fire Spin and Clamp are not allowed At anytime during a match, if a player offers the match to end in a tie and both players agree, they redo the match. So for example, should both players enter a stall war and both declare a tie (as they may be worried about losing that match), they redo the match (not the set though). 1. t3h Icy 2. Dexter 3. WaterWizard3. Lolita Cute 4. SubSmoke 5. Posthuman 6. Crystal 7. Nerd 8. Underboss 9. Zilch 10. GGFan

I'm still busy with school, but if this tournament is as slow as the others, I should be fine. I may have trouble playing my pool matches though because I can basically only play on Saturdays, though.
Anyways, I'm in.

You better not pout, you better not cry, you better not shout, I'm telling you why. Punching Zam is coming to town!!!! The Underboss signs up for this tournament.

I definitely recommend not to make pools unless they have some purpose. For example if there are 8/16 players, we can just make random seedings.

We'll see what Icy wants to do when he gets back. Until then, we're just having sign-ups.

Well 8 works nicely if WaterWizard plans to drop out. I'm not sure what format style we'll do yet though.
EDIT: If WW is staying though, 10 also works nicely.

It was a blast, thanks. =D
Pools are a way to sort players in the bracket (called seeding). Basically, all the players signed up are split into different Pools and each is a mini round robin. Players that do well in Pools will be against a player who did poorly in Pools in the bracket, or perhaps even receive a Bye.
Pools are used to pair up strong players against weaker players, which is the incentive in doing well in Pools. Ultimately though, a person that does poorly still has a chance to do well in the tournament, it's just that they'll have tougher opponents, and possibly an extra match more than everyone else.

That's why I said both.
Also the no-switch tournament has finished since I originally typed that anyway.
EDIT: Pools were made by me; I balanced them out as much as I could, but Pool 3 might be a little stacked.

Well I tried to spread the players as much as possible. 3rd Pool is also the one that doesn't have an uber player (Nerd and Dexter), but they also don't have a new player (Lolita and Underboss).
I can't really balance it much better without having one Pool totally stacked or totally easy.

I should be around tomorrow and Saturday nights, so if either Posthuman or Crystal want to do our pool matches, that'd be a good time to do it.

I beat Underboss 2-1, but it kind of left a sad taste. He took the first game despite me getting a freeze on the 2nd turn and was dominating game 2, but his Gengar's Explosion missed on my Chansey and I swept his last 4 Pokemon with Tauros. 3rd game, his confidence seemed kinda shaken and didn't play well and I took it.
It was a good set though, but that 255 Explosion kinda ruined it, despite being in my favor.
However, Underboss is the first person to take a game off me in Pools, me having 2-0'd Gabe, Garrin Red, Subsmoke, Zilch and 1-0'd Nerd, Subsmoke and Waterwizard.
Also out of our two previous sets in tournaments, Underboss was 2-0'd but he took the first game off me this time. So you're getting better, but yeah, you did get screwed.
Very disappointing, but that's RBY for you. =P

Yeah, my Zam always lost the freeze war to your zam, so that was difficult enough. But yeah, seeing my Gengar be a failure at failure was especially devastating. Whatever, I made bad choices and I don't think I had the best team organization.

Done. Posthuman was split from Pool 3 and paired with GGFan. Crystal and Zilch are left in the other Pool.
