In scenarios where complexity is a non-issue, then we might as well maximise the choices for the players. Also it prevents people accidentally forgetting they've activated sleep clause (mental lapras) xD
the former situation I'd be happy with though.

Graying out the button would certainly prevent people from accidentally forgetting the clause was on. And I mean I guess there are certain scenarios where throwing sleep while there's something asleep couldn't violate the clause but could be worthwhile (e.g. asleep-for-6-turns Alakazam vs. Gengar, all other Pokemon on the Zam's team have some other status) and I suppose that just giving people the option in tournaments and relying on their game-theoretic judgement (with the aforementioned "ARE YOU SURE???" ) is better than trying to find all of those loopholes. So I'll concede.
