I guess I thought the point of Psychic-only Starmie was to have a Zam-esque thing that had and made the most of a better coverage movepool. Now that I think about it, though, that's stupid; not being OHKOd by Explosions when behind a Reflect is the main attraction. Being much more easily broken on the special side by strong Blizzards, however, is not very cool.
I don't know, I guess I'm just pre-disposed to disliking Starmie, even with hypothetical typings. I have a hard time really articulating why I dislike it so much. I just do.

Starmie isnt OHKOed by most explosions without reflect.

Well, yeah, but I think of it like this: Chansey isn't technically OHKOd by any Explosions behind a Reflect, although it's slow and left basically for dead when it does take one. And Zam isn't quite OHKOd by anything short of Lax's SD behind a reflect, but if he's been para'd, again, he's basically taken out of the game anyway, only being usable as fodder for another Explosion later on. Starmie would likely become para'd in its adventures with a pure Psychic typing, so without Reflect, Explosions would leave it for dead. With it, they are barely a threat.
I guess the extra defense would also help with switching INTO physicals, too, actually making that an option in a pinch (similar to how it is now).

Rephrase: Starmie isn't bad but Starmie needs 5 moves. Depending on what moveset you use you will always run into matchup problems.

That's the problem with reflect in general. It's a good move, but the pokemon that like using it don't like giving up the moveslot.

Just posting to say that I like Icy's tier list best even though I would make some small changes to it. There isn't really anything big, but essentially everything below Tauros is much more even. Exeggutor>Tauros is a good rule of thumb though.
