RBYPlus What is RBYPlus?RBYPlus is a project made by the RBY2K10 community that edits every Pokemon's movepool, stats, type(s), and edits the moves! The goal is to create a new metagame that still plays like RBY, but has a new feel through new balances and fun Pokemon! To download and get started, visit this thread! In order to balance RBY, we took several approaches. Mainly, we boosted Pokemon instead of nerfing, and these boosts were mostly related to offense, although some defensive Pokemon were significantly boosted to create some balance. We've attempted to make all 81 final forms legal and viable within the same tier. While the game still has a luck component (like all competitive Pokemon battles), player skill is much more important now through team building, move selection, and execution throughout the match. Instead of a limited gameplay where each turn only has a couple good options, RBYPlus allows players to have multiple maneuvers available at any given time. Ultimately, there are only two type effectiveness changes which are 1) Ghost doing nothing against Psychic changed to Ghost super-effective against Psychic and 2) Bug not very effective against Ghost to neutral against Ghost. One other idea implemented in RBYPlus is the general reduction of excessive move PP. Moves such as Recover, Reflect, Light Screen, Thunder Wave, many of the weaker moves and various others have all had a PP decrease. This will not prevent stalling, as most defense-related moves still have ample PP, but RBYPlus matches will have a lower potential length than RBY. The maximum move PP is now 20 base (which is 32 with PP Ups), but almost all moves are 15 base (24) or less. Move EditsHere's a full list of all the new versions of each move, most of which were buffed, or completely changed. Many rare effects such as Flinching or Confusing are more common, and there are plenty of new moves available for more technical gameplay, balance among different types, and a fairer game between Physicals vs Specials. Every move is usable now! Note: In reality in both RBY and RBYPlus, Self-KO moves cut the opponent's Defense in half during the attack, but it has become common that they are simply listed as double their base (example: Explosion's base is not technically 340, but rather 170). However in RBYPlus, Barrage and Sonicboom being Specialized are truly 200, since they are not Physical and aren't affected by lower Defense. All moves are listed to give expected damage, but technically, Smog, Explosion, and Selfdestruct are each only half as strong. _______________________________________________________________________ Pokemon EditsIn RBY, most Pokemon are not viable in standard play. One of the major goals of RBYPlus is to have all 81 final forms viable in at least a few ways each. With each Pokemon is the type, HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Special and then their new movepool. WaterWizard's comments are in green. Icy's comments are in orange. (Note that the comments may be outdated at the moment) Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Grass/Ground | 363 | 268 | 268 | 298 | 298 |
4x | Ice | 2x | Bug, Fire, Flying | 1x | Dragon, Fighting, Ghost, Grass, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Water | 0.5x | Ground, Rock | 0.25x | | 0x | Electric |
Bide, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fissure, Growl, Growth, Hyper Beam, Leech Seed, Mega Drain, Mimic, Razor Leaf, Reflect, Rest, Skull Bash, Sleep Powder, Solarbeam, Substitute, Swords Dance, Toxic, Vine Whip |
Venusaur loses his venom in RBY and becomes Grass/Ground. This typing will be very interesting. Venusaur continues to be a potent mixed sweeper/sweeper, attacking mainly with Razor Leaf and Earthquake. Vine Whip, Mega Drain and Solar Beam become options after their boosts, and work well with Growth. Swords Dance pairs nicely with Earthquake, and Leech Seed is now viable, with a boost in power and perfect accuracy. Venusaur's type matchups have changed significantly, but he's still the same ole friendly, bluish-green dinosaur/toad/pottedplant monster.
Not only is Venusaur a fast Sleeper and interesting offensive Pokemon type-wise, but resisting both Ground and Rock is unique and could help wall many Pokemon. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Fire/Dragon | 363 | 268 | 258 | 298 | 308 |
4x | | 2x | Dragon, Ground, Ice, Rock | 1x | Fighting, Flying, Ghost, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Water | 0.5x | Bug, Electric | 0.25x | Fire, Grass | 0x
Bide, Bite, Body Slam, Counter, Double-Edge, Dragon Rage, Earthquake, Fire Blast, Fire Spin, Fissure, Flamethrower, Fly, Growl, Hyper Beam, Leer, Mimic, Rage, Reflect, Rest, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Slash, Submission, Substitute, Swift, Swords Dance, Toxic, Wing Attack |
All three of the RBY starters get "grounded" in RBYPlus. Charizard makes a smooth landing and gains Fire/Dragon typing. Rage and Dragon Rage, his STAB Dragon attacks, hit everyone for neutral or super effective damage. Wing Attack and Fly lose STAB but gain base power, and Bite is a new option. Charizard can Swords Dance by choosing one of the many unstabbed physical attacks. He is really a terrific lizard!
Charizard works as a Special sweeper and has some Physical moves for support. Swords Dance is an option to assist with his unSTABed moves. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water/Ground | 363 | 268 | 328 | 248 | 288 |
4x | Grass | 2x | | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Fighting, Flying, Ghost, Ground, Ice, Normal, Psychic, Water | 0.5x | Fire, Poison, Rock | 0.25x | | 0x | Electric |
Bide, Bite, Body Slam, Counter, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fissure, Haze, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Spike Cannon, Toxic, Withdraw |
Blastoise becomes a Quagsire-like pokemon; bulky, immune to Electric, terribly weak to Grass. He now gets STAB Earthquake and a Special stat-up move, Withdraw. Spike Cannon is his multi-hit Water attack, shared with Cloyster and Omastar. Blastoise should be quite a tough wall for a handful of pokes, especially with his new resistance to Rock and Poison. He's no tiny turtle.
Blastoise is a very tough wall for Physical attacks and is immune to Electric which often assists Pokemon in taking out defensive aquatics. Grass has to be avoided, but Blastoise can otherwise slowly take down the opponents with a mix of moves. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Bug/Psychic | 353 | 198 | 198 | 318 | 318 |
4x | | 2x | Bug, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Poison, Rock | 1x | Dragon, Electric, Ice, Normal, Water | 0.5x | Grass, Ground, Psychic | 0.25x | Fighting | 0x
Bide, Confuse Ray, Confusion, Double-Edge, Flash, Gust, Hyper Beam, Mega Drain, Mimic, Psychic, Recover, Reflect, Rest, Sleep Powder, Solarbeam, String Shot, Substitute, Toxic |
Butterfree is the special sweeping Bug who also counters other Psychics very well. She resists Psychics and can hit them with a modest STAB String Shot, and can use her powerful Confusion on Poisons and any unresisting pokemon. This gives her perfect offensive coverage. She now gets Recover and a nice speed boost which totally set her free.
The Sleep and lead game kind of sucks in RBY, so we've changed that letting Butterfree be the fastest Sleeper, tied with Gengar (but Butterfree has a more accurate move). To balance this, Butterfree is still fragile and falls to many of the faster Pokemon. Butterfree also works as an anti-Psychic, resisting them and attacking back for good damage.
|
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Bug | 333 | 308 | 188 | 348 | 188 |
4x | | 2x | Fire, Flying, Poison, Rock | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Electric, Ghost, Ice, Normal, Psychic, Water | 0.5x | Fighting, Grass, Ground
| 0.25x | | 0x | |
Agility, Bide, Double-Edge, Fury Attack, Hyper Beam, Mega Drain, Mimic, Pin Missile, Poison Sting, Reflect, Rest, Skull Bash, String Shot, Substitute, Swords Dance, Toxic, Twineedle |
Beedrill becomes a truly stinging force with major attack and speed boosts, as well as a move pool boost and a type loss. He loses his weakness to Psychic and now resists Ground. He has an arsenal of usable Bug moves now: Twin Needle, Pin Missile, and String Shot. His Critical Hit rate is very high, but Swords Dance is still an option. Poison Sting and Fury Attack are other multi-hit moves that provide type coverage. Beedrill should make most Psychics quiver in fear.
Beedrill is super speedy and powerful, but one dimensional and easy to take out. Use Beedrill like Dodrio and abuse the powerful Bug moves against the opponents. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Flying | 373 | 338 | 248 | 248 | 238 |
4x | | 2x | Electric, Ice, Rock | 1x | Dragon, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Water | 0.5x | Bug, Fighting, Grass | 0.25x | | 0x | Ground |
Agility, Bide, Double-Edge, Fly, Gust, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Mirror Move, Reflect, Rest, Quick Attack, Sand-Attack, Screech, Sky Attack, Substitute, Toxic, Whirlwind, Wing Attack |
Pidgeot is a physical powerhouse now. With some major move boosts (Fly, Gust, and Wing Attack), she can finally do some damage. She also gains a bit of bulk via HP. She has a unique bird move, Whirlwind, that makes her particularly threatening, especially coupled with Screech. She is still walled by Electrics and Rocks, but she now resists Fighting.
Of the Normal/Flying Pokemon, Pidgeot was made into the slow sweeper, also being pure Flying and having the nicest moves to support doing so. Agility helps for the naturally low Speed. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal | 313 | 248 | 198 | 348 | 198 |
4x | | 2x | Fighting | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Electric, Fire, Flying, Grass, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, Water | 0.5x | | 0.25x | | 0x | Ghost |
Bide, Bite, Bubble, Double-Edge, Fury Swipes, Hyper Beam, Hyper Fang, Mimic, Rest, Skull Bash, Substitute, Super Fang, Toxic |
Raticate gets some exciting use as a very fast, very weak Normal sweeper. Super Fang gains 100% accuracy, and Hyper Fang gets a higher flinch rate and a type change for super effective damage against Ghosts. Bubble is also an option for bulky Rocks. She also benefits from the Double-Edge boost, and might utilize the Fighting typed Fury Swipes. Very fast, very weak, very super!
Raticate not only gets 100% accuracy for Super Fang, but enough Speed to support using it on nearly everything without fear. Raticate has some problems finishing Pokemon off, but has a very high CH rate and a lot of offensive moves. To avoid brokenness, Super Fang has low PP, so you can effectively Recover/Softboiled stall as a way to hard counter. Otherwise, Raticate should go one for one in most battles. Avoid Paralysis. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal/Flying | 513 | 258 | 348 | 298 | 218 |
4x | | 2x | Electric, Ice, Rock | 1x | Dragon, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Water | 0.5x | Bug, Grass | 0.25x | | 0x | Ghost, Ground |
Agility, Bide, Double-Edge, Drill Peck, Fly, Fury Attack, Growl, Hyper Beam, Leer, Mimic, Mirror Move, Rest, Sky Attack, Substitute, Toxic |
Fearow becomes an incredibly physically bulky pokemon who totally walls Bugs, Grounds, and Ghosts. A boost in Double-Edge, Fury Attack, and Fly helps, and Mirror Move could be an interesting strategy to relaunch Fighting/Dragon attacks. Sky Attack is another powerful option to force switches. Fearow is fearsome.
Fearow is a tank that is still fast enough to do some damage on the opponent's team. Fearow sweeps in a way like Snorlax, by having so many turns to attack. Rocks are still a major problem and Fearow still can't take Electric or Ice too well, but should do fine against most others. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Ghost/Poison | 323 | 288 | 268 | 268 | 288 |
4x | | 2x | Bug, Ghost, Ground, Psychic | 1x | Dragon, Electric, Flying, Fire, Ice, Rock, Water | 0.5x | Grass | 0.25x | Poison | 0x | Fighting, Normal |
Acid, Bide, Bite, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fissure, Glare, Haze, Hyper Beam, Hyper Fang, Lick, Mega Drain, Mimic, Mist, Poison Sting, Rest, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Screech, Skull Bash, Substitute, Toxic, Wrap |
Ghost typing helps Arbok gain immunity to Normal sweepers and provides additional physical STAB. Arbok can utilize Screech effectively with STAB Poison Sting, Acid, and Hyper Fang. He can strike out of nowhere with his priority Mist, and Glare gets an accuracy boost for effective paraflinching. Catching sight of this snake should leave you paralyzed.
Arbok has fairly subpar stats in RBYPlus, but makes up for it with his technical abilities and Glare. Arbok Paralyzes everything and can follow up with Fissure, Wrap and Screech, or just Physical sweep from there. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Electric/Water | 323 | 298 | 208 | 298 | 298 |
4x | | 2x | Grass, Ground | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Electric, Fighting, Ghost, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock | 0.5x | Fire, Flying, Ice, Water | 0.25x | | 0x
Agility, Bide, Body Slam, Bubble, Double-Edge, Flash, Growl, Hyper Beam, Light Screen, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Slam, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Swift, Tackle, Thunder, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Raichu gains STAB for Surf, (Volt) Tackle, and a nice boost in attack. Slam and Bubble both add some very nice options to her movepool and will help her against the traditional special walls. She functions pretty much the same as always, though she now fears Grasses and loses resistance to Electric. Still, this pokemon is no modest mouse.
Raichu is built as an anti-Water Pokemon, attacking for major damage and taking back neutral at worst except for Blastoise. Raichu also has Physical options to cover Grass and Dragon, and can Paralyzes as always. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Ground/Fighting | 353 | 318 | 318 | 218 | 218 |
4x | | 2x | Flying, Grass, Ice, Psychic, Water | 1x | Dragon, Ghost, Fire, Fighting, Ground, Normal | 0.5x | Bug, Poison | 0.25x | Rock | 0x | Electric |
Bide, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fissure, Fury Swipes, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Poison Sting, Rest, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Rolling Kick, Sand-Attack, Scratch, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Slash, Submission, Substitute, Swift, Swords Dance, Take Down, Toxic |
Sandslash is an excellent SD user who can hit Normals, Poisons, Electrics, Rocks, and Ices super effectively, while still hitting Ghosts. Submission, and Fury Swipes are his Fighting moves, and Earthquake is his old standby. He can also utilize Poison Sting to hit his Grass foes, and one of Rock Throw, Rolling Kick, or Rock Slide for his newfound bird weakness. Although he's now weak to Psychic, Sandslash should show up on many teams and will leave his victims rubbing their eyes.
Sandslash works the same as before with Swords Dance, but better with the boosts. While he has a lot of weaknesses, he has the only type combination to take Rock attacks with ease, making him useful against most of them. Use him late with Paralysis support. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Poison/Ground | 473 | 248 | 328 | 248 | 308 |
4x | | 2x | Bug, Ground, Ice, Psychic, Water | 1x | Fire, Flying, Ghost, Grass, Normal | 0.5x | Fighting, Rock | 0.25x | Poison | 0x | Electric |
Bide, Bite, Blizzard, Body Slam, Counter, Double Kick, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fire Blast, Fissure, Flamethrower, Fury Attack, Fury Swipes, Growl, Horn Drill, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Lovely Kiss, Mimic, Poison Sting, Reflect, Rest, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Take Down, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Nidoqueen's bulky advantage over her husband is now strongly accentuated. A few of her moves get power boosts, notably Poison Sting and Submission. Fury Swipes and Fury Attack are options, and the queen can now inflict sleep with Lovely Kiss. Her special boost and type coverage means she can hit in any direction to help balance her many weaknesses. The defensive combination of Poison/Ground is actually very important in Plus to wall many of the newfound physical sweepers, so Nidoqueen will be a royal pain if you're not prepared.
Nidoqueen has significantly higher total stats than Nidoking as defensive stats are arguably not as valued. Nidoqueen is very diverse and can attack with all sorts of attacks, while taking them back as well. Nidoqueen is a mixed sweeper, mixed wall or sorts and a Sleeper, so you can use her for many roles in your team and to cover for many Pokemon should something unlucky happen to them. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Poison/Ground | 363 | 328 | 248 | 298 | 278 |
4x | | 2x | Bug, Ground, Ice, Psychic, Water | 1x | Fire, Flying, Ghost, Grass, Normal | 0.5x | Fighting, Rock | 0.25x | Poison | 0x | Electric |
Bide, Blizzard, Body Slam, Counter, Double Kick, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fire Blast, Fissure, Flamethrower, Fury Attack, Fury Swipes, Horn Attack, Horn Drill, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Leer, Lovely Kiss, Mimic, Poison Sting, Reflect, Rest, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Take Down, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Nidoking continues to be a quick, powerful mixed sweeper, utilizing Earthquake and his new Poison Sting. Nidoking now has Lovely Kiss, making him one of the fastest sleepers. Double Kick, Fury Attack/Swipes, and Rock Slide are also very effective, and his type coverage stays diverse. His ability to come in on Electrics, Poisons, Rocks, and Fightings and hit hard in any direction is his forte. Be prepared to bow to this king!
Nidoking is a powerful hybrid sweeper and is one of the fastest Sleepers. He works like Nidoqueen, only outspeeding more and doing more damage on average, but should take a turn less to faint. |

Clefable is a combination of Chansey and Snorlax with the new addition of Recover. She hits hard in any direction, and continues to be an effective user of Counter. Her unique move is Pound, which locks her into a STAB base 140 attack for 2 to 3 turns and leaves her confused. She also loses Sing, but benefits from other move boosts such as Double-Edge, Submission, and Solar Beam. If your team isn't ready to face Clefable, you definitely won't have a fairytale happy ending...
Clefable is similar to Chansey, but with the better recovery move and taking Physical attacks instead of Special. |

Ninetales becomes even more mystical with her new Ghost typing, making her immune to Normal and Fighting and resistant to Poison. Tale Whip is her unique Ghost move for consistent physical STAB. Fire attacks become more useful as Grasses, Ices, and Bugs increase in power, and coupled with Amnesia they will burn through many teams. Ninetales will play a part in many tales of burned tails.
Ninetales is a Fire Pokemon with some technical abilities and runs on her Ghost typing. Confuse Ray and the 298 Speed can support setting up, or you could use Ninetales as a mixed sweeper with a nice offensive combination. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal/Psychic | 483 | 238 | 248 | 258 | 298 |

Wigglytuff finally gets her spot in the moonlight as the solo Sing user. Sing becomes like Spore, and coupled with her massive HP and weak defense, Wigglytuff becomes the best Counter user in the game. Simply switch in on anyone slower than 258 who is using a Normal/Fighting move, Sing them to sleep, and Counter back for a nearly guaranteed 1hko on everyone except Ghosts. Recover, Seismic Toss and Doubleslap help hit these hard counters. Wigglytuff also enjoys the Submission/Double-Edge boosts as she doesn't mind recoil at all.
Wigglytuff runs on abusing Counter and Sing, while being a lesser Chansey if you don't. Psychic typing gives her STAB with Doubleslap and Psychic, but more importantly, a resistance to Fighting, which would otherwise KO her. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Poison/Flying | 353 | 238 | 258 | 328 | 248 |

Golbat is just as annoying as he was in the caves. A utility pokemon, Golbat disables, paralyzes, flinches and confuses, making it very hard for the foe to function. His huge speed makes this all possible. Toxic and Haze are also options (though not together). The Wing-Attack and Acid boosts will provide some STAB damage. He's so annoying!
Golbat rivals Porygon for most technical Pokemon, having all the status control. Glare with 328 Speed is very dangerous for spreading Paralysis, and can use Confuse Ray to pair with it. While Golbat has some move boosts, he's not a great attacker and still has problems with his weaknesses. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Grass | 353 | 228 | 268 | 338 | 338 |

Bide, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Growth, Hyper Beam, Mega Drain, Mimic, Petal Dance, Poisonpowder, Reflect, Rest, Solarbeam, Stun Spore, Substitute, Toxic |
Vileplume becomes the game's Grass special sweeper, with big boosts to Special and Speed, and the addition of Growth. Her ace is Petal Dance, though it can also be her deuce if she uses it at the wrong time, considering the many x2 and x4 Grass resistors. Certainly not a jack-of-all-trades, but, if used correctly, Vileplume is a very potent sweeper!
Vileplume runs on Petal Dance, while otherwise having very few useful moves. Being the fastest Grass, even outspeeding Starmie gives her other uses though. Make sure that when you use Petal Dance, that the opponent can't stop it. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Grass/Bug | 323 | 308 | 308 | 158 | 308 |

Amnesia, Bide, Body Slam, Cut, Double-Edge, Fury Swipes, Hyper Beam, Leech Life, Mega Drain, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Skull Bash, Slash, Solarbeam, Spore, Stun Spore, Substitute, Swords Dance, Toxic |
Parasect is so slow. But he's still got Spore, and some major move boosts. Mega Drain and Leech Life are substantially boosted and work very nicely with his high defensive stats to replenish his HP. Swords Dance and the new Amnesia allow him to attack in either direction. There'll be many movesets for this magic mushroom.
Still the holder of the one of the worst types defensively and bearer of the best Sleep move, Parasect has a lot of stat boosts and nice moves to make her useful in other ways. Parasect can setup and sweep either Physically or Specially and can drain HP with either. Non-Spore moveset are possible if you give Parasect enough Paralysis support. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Bug/Poison | 343 | 288 | 258 | 288 | 318 |
4x | | 2x | Bug, Fire, Flying, Psychic, Rock | 1x | Dragon, Electric, Ghost, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Water | 0.5x | | 0.25x | Fighting, Grass | 0x
Bide, Disable, Double-Edge, Flash, Hyper Beam, Leech Life, Mimic, Poisonpowder, Reflect, Rest, Sleep Powder, Sludge, Stun Spore, Substitute, Toxic |
Venomoth becomes the mix sweeping Bug. Hits hard with strong Acid, Poisonpowder, and Leech Life on the physical side. She has very high special, so Mimic could be an option to get some special attacks. She can still sleep her foes, as well, and enjoys the 100% accurate Disable. This Bug is now quite venomous.
Venomoth gets some nice STAB moves and a Special boost so she's not useless after status inflicting. Venomoth still remains the game's fastest Sleep and Stunner. Bug and Poison are an interesting offensive combination. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Ground | 303 | 288 | 228 | 358 | 238 |
4x | | 2x | Grass, Ice, Water | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Ground, Normal, Psychic | 0.5x | Poison, Rock | 0.25x | | 0x | Electric |
Bide, Body Slam, Dig, Double Team, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fissure, Growl, Haze, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Rest, Rock Throw, Sand-Attack, Scratch, Slash, Substitute, Take Down, Toxic |
Dugtrio gets an attack boost as well as some more bulk. He enjoys his exclusive move, Dig, which gets a major upgrade. He also has the option of using Double-Team, which can work in conjunction with Sand-Attack and Dig. As the Electrics have been slightly boosted, Ghosts are more common, and all of the Dragons lose their Ground immunity, Dugtrio will continue to play a vital role as a very useful crit king.
Dugtrio gets an Attack boost, a Confusion move and a legalized Fissure. He still remains the fastest Ground by a fair margin and the increase of Fires, Rocks and Poisons keep him a job. He works the same as before, but better. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal | 333 | 248 | 218 | 328 | 248 |

Bide, Bite, Body Slam, Bubble, Double-Edge, Fury Swipes, Growl, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Pay Day, Rest, Scratch, Screech, Skull Bash, Slash, Substitute, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Persian continues to be a glass cannon, and a slight boost in Special helps against her hard counters, the Ghosts. A slight attack boost makes Slash even better. Bubble is a nice option to hit rocks/grounds, and her unique and most powerful move is Pay Day. This one time affair is high dollar for sure, especially with a critical hit! Just don't waste your money on a Rock or a Ghost pokemon!
You get one shot with Pay Day, but it can cause a lot of pressure. A 1.2x Hyper Beam with perfect accuracy and no side effects is a scary sweeping attack. Persian has a few better moves, but still has trouble with Ghosts. Bubble gives you some hope in beating them and Slash remains a staple move. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water | 363 | 278 | 278 | 278 | 278 |

Amnesia, Bide, Blizzard, Body Slam, Bubblebeam, Counter, Disable, Double-Edge, Fury Swipes, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Mimic, Rest, Scratch, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Toxic |
Golduck gets stat boosts in every area, and continues to be a nice pure Water pokemon. He also has access to 100% Disable, and enjoys the boosted recoil moves and Fury Swipes. Golduck's main weapon is Amnesia, and he uses it very well. His powerful new move is Bubblebeam, which really makes him formidable. This duck is certainly not someone at which to quack!
Golduck works like before, but has improved stats and some new moves. Bubblebeam is a dangerous move with Amnesia and since Psychic types have to deal with Bug and Ghost, Golduck may be used over Slowbro. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal/Fighting | 303 | 308 | 218 | 328 | 218 |

Primeape is the Fighting typed glass cannon; fast, strong, and fragile! Like Persian, he is almost completely walled by Ghosts. Rock Slide is his saving grace and works in conjunction with Screech. His arsenal of Fighting moves give him plenty of power. This monkey is crunk!
Hit fast, hard and then die. Primeape can only really take Bug and Rock attacks, but he hits the opponents with heavy Fighting moves. Thunder and Thunderbolt are possible choices for defensive Flying Pokemon such as Fearow. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Fire | 563 | 318 | 278 | 228 | 278 |

Agility, Bide, Bite, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Hyper Beam, Leer, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Roar, Skull Bash, Substitute, Swift, Toxic |
Arcanine has legendary stats, including an amazing 563 HP. This allows him to be a quite formidable wall. His Fire typing is more useful in Plus due to the increased strength of Bug, Grass, and Ice types. Arcanine harnesses his nice attack stat by using his exclusive move, Roar. This may strike fear into the fainthearted by lowering defense. Rawr!
Arcanine runs on his stats and is otherwise a generic Fire Pokemon. Agility can cover the Speed loss and then becomes a powerful beast to stop. His HP allows for some possible walling, but you have to take out anything that could be a problem beforehand. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water/Fighting | 383 | 288 | 288 | 238 | 238 |

Amnesia, Bide, Blizzard, Body Slam, Counter, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fissure, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Hypnosis, Ice Beam, Karate Chop, Metronome, Mimic, Psychic, Rest, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Toxic |
Poliwrath is just another mixed sweeper. Or is he? He hits very hard in several directions, has access to a sleep move, and can special sweep with Amnesia. His typing is useful because he is only weak to four types, and three of them are covered by Amnesia. Lastly, with the big boosts to fighting moves, Poliwrath can finally harness his physical power.
Poliwrath can be used in many different ways such as a Sleeper, a Physical sweeper or a Special sweeper. Or all of them! While Poliwrath hasn't gained too many boosts, the new use of Fighting moves allows for offense that is hard to stop with Water and Ground supporting him. Amnesia is key and lets Poliwrath work like a modified Golduck. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Psychic | 313 | 138 | 188 | 338 | 368 |
4x | | 2x | Bug, Ghost | 1x | Dragon, Electric, Fire, Flying, Grass, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Rock, Water | 0.5x | Fighting, Psychic | 0.25x | | 0x
Bide, Body Slam, Confusion, Counter, Disable, Double-Edge, Flash, Hyper Beam, Kinesis, Metronome, Mimic, Psychic, Recover, Reflect, Rest, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Thunder Wave, Toxic |
Alakazam is still extremely powerful, though his role as the strongest Psychic sweeper is threatened by the advent of Mewtwo to standard play. What sets Alakazam apart is his boosted Confusion, which makes him quite a force. Recover is of course still very useful, and he can still boast that over Hypno and now Mewtwo, too. Alakazam can still stall or hit & run, however the boosting of Bugs and Ghosts means the he'll will have to play carefully.
Alakazam is similar to before, but he has new threats that could trouble him. Alakazam is now the fastest Psychic and hits hard just as before, especially with Confusion. Kinesis is an alternative to Thunder Wave that costs accuracy, but hits Grounds. Alakazam's only stat change is an Attack decrease so he can't abuse the new Submission, but it's still an option for Pokemon like Chansey. Play him in the same style, but more cautiously and against the new Fighting and Poison Pokemon. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Fighting | 383 | 398 | 258 | 208 | 198 |

Machamp gets an extreme offensive boost, mainly through the bolstering of Fighting moves. He also maintains the strongest attack stat in the game. With a plethora of boosted Fighting moves as well as Earthquake, Rock Slide, and Double-Edge, Machamp is a total physical beast. His Submission is absolutely fearsome, and Strength is the strongest thing you've ever seen.
Raw Physical power. Machamp is the champ for Attack, and will hit just about anything hard. Machamp remains the slowest Fighting Pokemon though and needs Paralysis support to work to full potential. Ghosts, Bugs and Flying can resist his incredible Fighting attacks and Psychics will win one on one like before. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Grass/Poison | 433 | 338 | 228 | 238 | 268 |
4x | Bug | 2x | Fire, Flying, Ice, Psychic | 1x | Dragon, Ghost, Ground, Normal, Poison, Rock | 0.5x | Electric, Fighting, Water | 0.25x | Grass | 0x
Acid, Bide, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Growth, Hyper Beam, Lick, Mega Drain, Mimic, Poisonpowder, Razor Leaf, Reflect, Rest, Sleep Powder, Solarbeam, Stun Spore, Substitute, Swords Dance, Toxic, Wrap |
Victreebel becomes unique due to Venusaur's type change, as well as some stat accentuations. Swords Dance and Acid make quite a combo, and Victreebel definitely has enough HP to use the boosted Double-Edge effectively. Razor Leaf is still strong, though Viccy's special stat took a bit of a dive. Victreebel is still resisted by Ghosts, particularly Ninetales, but once they are out of the way, this plant can SD up and forge a clear path to victory.
Victreebel is a Physical Grass that can still status inflict. He's built for Poison attacks and his massive HP supports Double-Edge as a Normal option. Lick helps against the Ghosts and Psychics, but may not finish the job due to Speed. Victreebel is very versatile. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water/Poison | 363 | 238 | 228 | 298 | 358 |

Acid, Barrier, Bide, Blizzard, Double-Edge, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Mimic, Poison Sting, Reflect, Rest, Screech, Skull Bash, Substitute, Surf, Swords Dance, Toxic, Wrap |
Tentacruel is an epic mixed sweeper. He can launch epic STAB Water attacks from his huge special, and Swords Dance lets him bring his attack up considerably, too. Screech and Toxic will force switches. Attacks like Acid, Poison Sting, Blizzard, and Hydro Pump paired with Tentacruel's offensive stats are very devastating to those who don't resist. SD + legal Wrap will allow Tentacruel to inflict some cruel and unusual punishment.
Tentacruel is a hybrid sweeper that focuses more on Special. Swords Dance and Screech are available if you want to use him Physically with Wrap, Poison attacks or his other Normal moves. He's still the holder of strongest Water attacks and can brush off Electrics and Psychics moderately well. Toxic Wrapping is useful too as Tentacruel can his most Pokemon hard with his Water attacks to force more switches. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Rock | 363 | 318 | 388 | 188 | 228 |

Bide, Body Slam, Counter, Defense Curl, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Explosion, Fire Blast, Fissure, Flamethrower, Hyper Beam, Metronome, Mimic, Rest, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Rolling Kick, Seismic Toss, Selfdestruct, Submission, Substitute, Toxic |
Golem finally loses his Ice weakness and is no longer x4 weak to anything, but half his STAB is gone, too, as well as his resistance to Rock and Poison, and his immunity to Electric. Fortunately for him, Rock Slide and Rock Throw get major boosts, and Golem can now recover health with Defense Curl. Rock typing also increases in use due to the boosted Bugs, Birds, Ices, and Fires. Perhaps Golem's biggest boost is Explosion (Rock type), which is stabbed and hits everything, and is only resisted by Ground and Fighting! Golem rocks!
Golem gets a type change, new Rock moves and a recovery move. Defense Curl helps for anything that can't KO him quickly, but even his new Special won't hold up to Water and Grass like before. Golem can work as either a wall or as a Physical sweeper. Rock is arguably one of the best offensive types due to hitting four types hard and only resisted by two. Explosion is deadly. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Fire/Ground | 333 | 298 | 238 | 308 | 298 |
4x | Water | 2x | Ice, Ground | 1x | Dragon, Fighting, Flying, Ghost, Grass, Normal, Psychic, Rock | 0.5x | Bug, Fire, Poison | 0.25x | | 0x | Electric |
Agility, Bide, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fire Blast, Fire Spin, Fissure, Flamethrower, Growl, Horn Attack, Horn Drill, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Rest, Skull Bash, Stomp, Substitute, Take Down, Toxic |
Rapidash has incredible offensive typing and a modified movepool to back it up. Fire Blast, and Earthquake are her main stabbed moves; Flamethrower and Horn Attack provide alternative options. Rapidash can flinch effectively with Stomp, and Agility helps overcome a speed fall from paralysis. Takedown provides an incredibly powerful option at the cost of recoil. This pony should stay away from Water!
Even though Rapidash is already fast, Agility helps support Rapidash's Flinching, OHKOing and Wrapping. Or you could just use Rapidash as a hybrid sweeper with all of the move options. Fire and Ground are a powerful offensive mix that hits seven different types for 3x. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water/Psychic | 483 | 218 | 318 | 128 | 258 |
4x | | 2x | Bug, Electric, Ghost, Grass | 1x | Dragon, Flying, Ground, Normal, Poison, Rock | 0.5x | Fighting, Fire, Ice, Psychic, Water | 0.25x | | 0x
Amnesia, Bide, Blizzard, Body Slam, Counter, Disable, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fire Blast, Fissure, Flamethrower, Flash, Growl, Headbutt, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Mimic, Psychic, Reflect, Rest, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Thunder Wave, Toxic |
Slowbro is slower than ever, but he gets a major HP boost, making him incredibly bulky. However, Psychic typing is no longer broken, as the Bugs and Ghosts have had a significant makeover, so Slowbro will need to be careful. Headbutt will probably replace Psychic as the trainer's attack of choice, but Slowbro's strategy is the same as always: Amnesia and sweep like only a bro can!
While Slowbro has a ton of move options, Amnesia and Rest are staples. Thunder Wave pairs with Headbutt well, and the Swift-like Surf is still effective. Earthquake, Submission, Blizzard and others could be used for type coverage if you're willing to limit your moveset. The HP boost will help cover for the new Ghosts and Bugs that hit Slowbro hard. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Electric/Rock | 383 | 218 | 418 | 238 | 338 |
4x | Ground | 2x | Grass, Fighting, Water | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Ghost, Ice, Psychic, Rock | 0.5x | Fire, Electric, Normal, Poison | 0.25x | Flying | 0x
Bide, Double Team, Double-Edge, Explosion, Flash, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Screech, Sonicboom, Substitute, Thunder, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Magneton gets a new Rock typing. He also gets a major HP and defense boost, making him one of the strongest walls in Plus. Magneton's offensive diversity is pretty narrow, but his STAB Thunder still packs some major voltage. Magneton also has a few new tricks, including Flash, and Double Team, which allows Magneton to parafuse. Sonicboom provides an epic end that is only resisted by Dragons, Electrics, and Grasses... was there another? Oh; Ground! Yes, Ground is bad...
Magneton is hard to stop without Grounds, but is pretty one-dimensional otherwise. Double Team, Flash and Thunder Wave support his walling, and he still has some of the strongest Electric attacks. Eliminating Grounds is crucial for Magneton to work, but if you can do that, he should last a long time. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Flying | 383 | 318 | 228 | 228 | 318 |

Agility, Amnesia, Bide, Blizzard, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Fly, Fury Attack, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Leer, Mimic, Peck, Reflect, Rest, Sand-Attack, Skull Bash, Slash, Substitute, Swift, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Toxic, Whirlwind |
Farfetch'd gets a major makeover, and he's now sort of a synthesis of the legendary birds due to his access of Ice, Fire, and Electric attacks. This pokemon, formerly one of the absolute worst in the game, is now a very diverse mixed sweeper with an immunity to Ground and resistance to Fighting, Bug, and Grass. Besides all that, Farfetch'd gets a priority 100 base STAB attack: Peck! This guy is no stick in the mud...
Farfetch'd is the farfetched bird, being a Specialist. Agility helps the low Speed, or you could just use Peck, which has Speed priority. Farfetch'd works like a mixed sweeper and has a lot of type diversity in attacking. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal/Flying | 323 | 328 | 238 | 308 | 218 |

Agility, Bide, Body Slam, Double Team, Double-Edge, Drill Peck, Fly, Fury Attack, Growl, Haze, Hyper Beam, Leer, Low Kick, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Skull Bash, Sky Attack, Substitute, Toxic |
Dodrio is still the bird with the strongest attack. She also enjoys boosted Drill Peck and Fly, and can try out the new Double-Edge, too. Think of her as a Snorlax with 308 speed and a STAB attack that hits Ghosts and you're on the right track. The old standard moveset is still perfect, and Double-Team provides a fun forth move if you're not brave enough to try Sky Attack...
And the last Normal/Flying remains the fast, Physical sweeper. Dodrio gets a small boost in Attack and Speed, making him a glass cannon. He works the same as before otherwise, but has more Pokemon to victimize.

Aurora Beam, Bide, Blizzard, Body Slam, Bubblebeam, Double-Edge, Growl, Headbutt, Horn Drill, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Mimic, Rest, Skull Bash, Substitute, Toxic |
Dewgong's loss of his Water type helps him a ton; he loses weakness to Electric and Grass, and only gains a weakness to Fire and a neutrality to Water. Dewgong's high speed and special make him great for coming in and slaying Dragons, Grasses, Birds, and Grounds. With the high speed, Horn Drill is also a fun option. Bubblebeam is an exciting unstabbed option that will hit hard, and Aurora Beam is Dewgong's exclusive Ice version of Psychic. Dragons will definitely run from Dewgong!
Dewgong is an Ice sweeper with Headbutt, Bubblebeam and Horn Drill as side options. Aurora Beam helps for stalling Specialists such as Alakazam and Chansey, but can't Freeze like Ice Beam and Blizzard. He's quite the Dragon slayer.

Muk is mighty. He is only weak to Ground and Psychic, and resists Grass, Fighting, and Poison. His STAB Sludge and Acid are devastating to Bugs and Grasses and anything else that gets hit neutrally by Poison. Disable and Poison Gas provide some utility, and Growth and Acid Armour can work for stalling. Furthermore, Muk has Screech to force switches, and Selfdestruct and Smog for sticky situations! Gross!
Poison is arguably the worst offensive type, so Sludge gets to do massive damage. Grounds, Poisons and Ghosts can take it though, and Poisoning opponents may not be desired. Muk also has a variety of defensive and offensive options including Acid Armor, Growth, Smog, Thunderbolt, and many more. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Ice/Rock | 403 | 208 | 558 | 238 | 248 |

Bide, Bind, Blizzard, Clamp, Double-Edge, Explosion, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Leer, Mimic, Rest, Selfdestruct, Spike Cannon, Substitute, Toxic, Withdraw |
Cloyster gains Rock typing in Plus, making him an epic wall, like Magneton. Blizzard and Ice Beam are the main weapons to whittle away at the foe as their physical attacks bounce off Cloyster. Withdraw allows Cloyster to special sweep if he is allowed to set up, and will work well with attacks like Clamp and Spike Cannon. Rest off the damage or Explode! Explosion hits Ghosts and Rocks, while Selfdestruct hits Fighting and Ground types! Solid!
Cloyster is tough to take down, but limited offensively. Use Water and Ice attacks for some mild damage, and Rest or go boom when Cloyster's finally falling. Cloyster is ideal for Toxic and Wrap teams, being difficult to KO and having two types of moves to trap the opponent with. Withdraw is also an option. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Ghost | 323 | 248 | 228 | 318 | 358 |

Bide, Body Slam, Confuse Ray, Counter, Double-Edge, Dream Eater, Hyper Beam, Hypnosis, Lick, Metronome, Mimic, Night Shade, Psychic, Rest, Seismic Toss, Selfdestruct, Skull Bash, Substitute, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Gengar gets a spectacular spectral boost! As if he needed one... First, his attack is boosted to support his new Ghost moves. Lick and Night Shade hit on the physical index for STAB, and Gengar's 358 special and nice movepool still allows him to hit hard on the other side, too. Next, Dream Eater gets an epic boost, to reward perfect prediction and helps give him back some of his precious 293 HP. And most importantly, Gengar loses his Poison typing, which means he laughs at Grounds and especially Psychics! Spooky!
A Poison-less Gengar is probably what everyone would want. Gengar is tough and is the fastest Ghost, so we remodeled his movepool and changed some stats. He's still your fast Sleeper, tied with Butterfree and can hit hard with his Ghost attacks. Psychic and Thunderbolt are still Special options and he has a ton of useful moves, just functionally different ones. |

Bide, Bind, Body Slam, Defense Curl, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Explosion, Fissure, Growth, Harden, Hyper Beam, Reflect, Rest, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Screech, Selfdestruct, Skull Bash, Substitute, Toxic |
Onix becomes the ultimate wall in Plus with an incredible 300 point boost in special! Too bad he has no special attacks (and no Mimic, so nice try), and his attack stat is still terrible. To help this, Harden can slowly boost his attack, allowing him to strike with STAB Earthquake and Rock Slide. Combined with Screech, this could add up to some major damage. Defense curl allows Onix to stall all day. Finally, STAB Explosion is available if things get rocky.
Onix is tough to KO without Grass or Water, and can heal and stall further with Defense Curl, Growth and Reflect. Onix could slowly damage Pokemon with his Ground and Rock moves, but also has Toxic, Bind, Harden and Screech to help. Fissure can also work with Paralysis support. |

Bide, Body Slam, Counter, Disable, Double-Edge, Dream Eater, Flash, Headbutt, Hyper Beam, Hypnosis, Metronome, Mimic, Psychic, Reflect, Rest, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Thunder Wave, Toxic |
Hypno gets a defensive boost, making him an extremely bulky Psychic pokemon, even if he still has to use Rest. Disable and the recoil move boosts will help him out, too, and the chance at Dream Eater is also present. Psychic is still a very strong tool, and Headbutt paired with Flash and Thunderwave can be quite annoying, so don't let this monster hypnotize you into a false sense of security.
Hypno is a defensive Psychic that can also Sleep like before. Hypno stalls and hits back fairly well with his Psychic moves. He has a ton of support moves to assist you too. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water/Bug | 313 | 358 | 358 | 248 | 198 |

Bide, Body Slam, Crabhammer, Double-Edge, Guillotine, Hyper Beam, Leer, Mimic, Rest, Substitute, Swords Dance, Toxic, Vicegrip |
Kingler finally gets to utilize his colossal attack due to the addition of Bug typing. Vicegrip and Guillotine are his main weapons, and Crabhammer is still nice for some decent STAB. Swords Dance makes him nearly uber strong, and his huge defense means he can Rest and repeat. This crab is king!
Electric attacks are lethal, but Kingler can take most of everything else. He can attack with his new Crahammer and Bug moves, and use Swords Dance for even more power. The Ice moves are available for some type coverage, but may not be used like before. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Electric | 323 | 198 | 238 | 598 | 278 |

Bide, Flash, Hyper Beam, Light Screen, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Screech, Selfdestruct, Skull Bash, Sonicboom, Substitute, Swift, Teleport, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Toxic |
Electrode becomes the fastest thing ever seen in the pokemon world. His CH rate is off the charts, and his special even gets a boost. Thunderbolt is his weapons of choice, along with his unique Teleport, which has a Fly effect. Flash + Thunder Wave can be useful, and Screech can spook off foes. Sonicboom provides a shocking finish. Look out for Ground types and Exeggutor!
The boost to Speed really doesn't do much except gives him a near 50% CH rate and possibly faster than the slowest Pokemon when Paralyzed. Electrode is great for Pokemon that setup with Amnesia, Withdraw and Growth, and is great in general. Electrode is really luck based as without his CHs, he's only a decent Electric, so be careful when using him. |

Exeggutor gets a nerf in attack and defense, and loses the powders, but he finally gets Razor Leaf and a recovery move! Softboiled, Mega Drain, and Leech Seed provide major stalling, and Egg Bomb adds a very interesting threat to his nemeses (Bugs!). Stomp provides some fun type coverage, and Solar Beam can beat other recovers. With all these changes, Exeggutor remains an eggstremely versatile special sweeper.
Exeggutor gains a lot of new, useful moves including Razor Leaf, Softboiled, Egg Bomb, Barrage and Stomp. Exeggutor can stall like before or be used as a Special sweeper. Exeggutor is still the holder of the most resistances in the game, but his quiet weaknesses are much more common in RBYPlus. |

Marowak gets some major boosts, freeing him from hades. A nice attack increase simulates Thick Club, and Ghost typing gives him some diversity. His handful of unique Ground and Ghost moves make Marowak quite a physical presence. The immunities to Electric, Normal, and Fighting mean this guy can switch in on a lot. Watch out for Gengar's Night Shade, as a burn will send this guy back to the graveyard!
Marowak runs on his Ghost and Ground moves and his typing. He has a few Special options for type coverage, but his low Special isn't superb with them. His triple immunities allows Marowak to wall a ton of Pokemon, but he has trouble with his Special weaknesses. |

Double Kick, Hi Jump Kick, Jump Kick, Low Kick, Meditate, Mega Kick, Rolling Kick |
Hitmonlee gets a major workout in Plus. His defense stats are all boosted, and his moves are beefed quite a bit. Double Kick is his trusty mid powered attack. Jump Kick is his strongest move. High Jump Kick is fun and can dodge Explosions. Mega Kick drains HP from the foe, but loses STAB, Rolling Kick provides some type coverage for those pesky birds, and Low Kick lets him flinch. Meditate for even more power. He should have a foothold in the competitive scene now.
Hitmonlee has very few moves, but all are superb. Jump Kick is dangerously powerful, but Hitmonlee is easy to predict. Rolling Kick is mostly for Flying Pokemon, but helps with Bugs too. The key is setting up with Meditate and unleashing. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Fighting | 303 | 318 | 258 | 208 | 298 |

Comet Punch, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Meditate, Mega Punch, Thunderpunch |
Hitmonchan becomes a strong mixed sweeping Fighting pokemon. Comet Punch gives Hitmonchan a hand by provide a powerful STAB priority move. Mega Punch replenishes health, though it is unstabbed. And the elemental punches are all boosted in power and pair nicely with Hitmonchan's newfound high special stat. This guy packs quite a punch.
Comet Punch with Meditate is deadly, so you have to be sure you can stay out when you use it. Ghosts and resistors can be a problem, so make sure you've taken care of them beforehand. I expect only one elemental punch will make it on the set, unless the type coverage becomes important. |

Lickitung is a fat freak with massive HP and three immunities which make him a very effective wall. His main tools are Swords Dance / Screech; they pair nicely with his physical STAB attacks. Double-Edge is the attack of choice, along with Lick. Submission, other stabbed moves, and elemental attacks give Lickitung some type coverage. Mostly he just comes in and eats your PP.
Massive HP and three immunities, with no weaknesses makes him hard to kill. He won't be doing much back though with his abysmal offensive stats unless he gets going with Swords Dance or you take too long to take him out. |

Weezing gains a fun type in Plus that should make him very interesting. He also gets a considerable boost in bulkiness and offense. Sludge and Acid are his physical attacks, and Smokescreen hits powerfully on the special side. Rest off any damage, or blow up with STAB Smog for a smokin' sendoff.
Weezing as a mostly offensive movepool, so while you wall the opponents, you can get the damage in. Fire and Poison overlap in super-effectiveness, but not much resists both. With Paralysis support, Weezing can also try to OHKO with Poison Gas. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Rock/Ground | 413 | 388 | 338 | 178 | 188 |

Rhydon gets a major boost in attack power, and becomes the sole Rock/Ground offensive pokemon. He still walls Poisons, birds, Rocks, Bugs, and Normals, too. Rock Slide, Earthquake, and Submission are standard methods of attack for this rampaging rhino. Just watch out for Grass/Water foes!
Same as ever, but with less competition and more power. He also walls many of the boosted Pokemon types and has a lot of new Physical options such as Rock Throw, Horn Attack, and Submission. |

Chansey is bulkier than ever. With a boost in defense, special, and attack, Chansey is no chicken! These boosts will be essential to wall the new Dragons. She still has the same strategy, although she has the option of using her new move, Egg Bomb, to cripple physicals, and might utilize Solarbeam, too. Double-Edge is even an option now. Counter may help against the Fighting pokemon! With so many viable movesets available to Chansey, you don't have to leave things up to chance!
Chansey works similarly, but has new moves and extra beefed defensive stats. Use Submission if you whine about her. |

Absorb, Bide, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Growth, Hyper Beam, Leech Seed, Mega Drain, Mimic, Poisonpowder, Rest, Skull Bash, Sleep Powder, Solarbeam, Substitute, Surf, Swords Dance, Toxic, Vine Whip, Wrap |
Tangela becomes an even better wall due to the nice HP boost and new Water typing. Growth and Swords Dance allow Tangela to hit on either the physical or special side, and Absorb and Mega Drain will replenish HP quickly due to boosted power and STAB. Vine Whip also provides Tangela with a strong Grass move to pair with Growth. Leech Seed works if you plan to stick around for a while or force switches. PoisonPowder hits fellow grass pokemon and pairs with Swords Dance. There are numerous options, and many pokemon will be afraid to tangle with Tangela!
Her gimmick is draining HP, but can still use Swords Dance, Growth and status moves. Water/Grass isn't great defensively, but is hard to resist against. With careful play and setup, Tangela can last a long time with seemingly endless HP. |

Kangaskhan becomes a bit bulkier, and gets a slight boost in physical power as well. Rock typing allows Kang to hit Ghosts with STAB, and Double-Edge pairs nicely with the HP boost. Kangaskhan is similar to Snorlax, but the Rock typing adds some strengths and weaknesses. Dizzy Punch provides stab with power equal to Hyper Beam, but without the lost turn. Rolling Kick allows for some fun flinch action, and counter can surprise some foes. The low special means Kangaskhan should hit and hop!
Kangaskhan is a Normal that can switch into others. Dizzy Punch is a nice unique move, but Kangaskhan ultimately plays like a Rock-type Snorlax. |

Agility, Bide, Double-Edge, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Haze, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Leer, Mimic, Rage, Rest, Skull Bash, Smokescreen, Substitute, Surf, Toxic |
Seadra gets a fun dual-typing that alludes to her future evolution's Dragon typing. Seadra is one of the quickest aquatics, and this makes her quite a special sweeper, especially with access to Agility. Surf and Smokescreen are her main STAB weapons, and Hydro Pump and Blizzard are other options. She is also the proud user of a Dragon move, Rage, which further diversifies her. Seadra is a surprisingly sweeping sea horse.
Seadra is a fast Special sweeper with little else to do. Her moves cover a wide variety of Pokemon and the typing makes Seadra an excellent anti-Fire Pokemon. Rage helps for Dragons that would otherwise wall her, but other Waters are still trouble. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water | 363 | 308 | 238 | 308 | 288 |

Agility, Bide, Blizzard, Double-Edge, Fury Attack, Haze, Horn Attack, Horn Drill, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Mimic, Peck, Rest, Screech, Skull Bash, Substitute, Surf, Toxic, Waterfall |
Seaking gets major stat boosts to evacuate him from the watery depths of NU. Seaking can quickly hit in many directions, with access to Ground, Ice, Normal, and Water attacks. Horn Drill is an option, and Waterfall provides a powerful attack that can also dodge Explosions. Screech paired with the nice speed and attack shuold allow Seaking to scare off a lot of pokemon. This aquatic should do well as a quick mixed sweeper, though he still may not be the king of the seas...
Seaking is a quick, mixed Water sweeper. Horn Drill is a useful option and Horn Attack helps for Electrics. He's kind of like a fast Kingler that still can also attack with Water moves. Waterfall is neat too. |

Starmie grows in power with a slight bulk increase and a tad more special attack. This pokemon is still a star special sweeper who can Recover off any sustained damage. Her biggest boost is definitely her new Bubblebeam, which functions like Hyper Beam. An increase in Bug and Ghost pokemon means Starmie has to be careful, but she should still be able to play in the deep end of the pool due to her incredible diversity. Starmie's stellar STAB and type coverage make her quite a formidable foe.
Starmie gains defensive boosts, Confuse Ray and Bubblebeam. She works like before, but has to be careful around the boosted Pokemon that are super-effective against her. Like before, Starmie is very versatile and can use all different kinds of moveset combinations. |

Mr.Mime has a very nice typing in Plus. He is only weak to Flying and Ghost, and hits Poison, Fighting, Ice, Normal, and Rock for super effective damage. This pokemon really can hit hard in any direction. Slam and Submission provide STAB options for his physical side, and Psychic is a familiar standby. Recover gives Mr.Mime some staying power, especially paired with Barrier and Light Screen. Don't underestimate Mr.Mime; this guy is silent and deadly.
Mr.Mime is a hybrid sweeper, focusing on the Special side. He has a ton of useful moves, including Light Screen, Barrier, Thunderbolt, Solarbeam, etc. Meditate is key if you want to use Mr.Mime Physically. Watch for other Psychics. |

Agility, Bide, Cut, Double-Edge, Focus Energy, Hyper Beam, Leer, Mimic, Razor Wind, Rest, Skull Bash, Slash, Substitute, Swift, Swords Dance, Toxic, Wing Attack |
Scyther is super speedy and finally gets some awesome stabbed attacks. Cut and Wing Attack are his standard moves, but Razor Wind pairs best with Swords Dance as it doesn't crit as often. Focus Energy is an extremely powerful move that takes a turn to charge up. But it's certainly worth it, especially if it crits!
Scyther has a lot of Bug options, Wing Attack, and Slash. If you would rather boost Attack, you could use Double-Edge, Razor Wind and Focus Energy instead, or mix them together. Watch the weaknesses and make sure whatever you're hitting is taking heavy damage. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Ice/Psychic | 333 | 248 | 198 | 288 | 298 |

Jynx and the rest of the Tranny Trio get Recover and boosted elemental punches. Jynx continues to be a fast and reliable sleeper, now with more sustainability. Along with Wigglytuff, Jynx can use Double Slap as a powerful Psychic type attack. Lick is also a fun option to hit fellow Psychic types. This pokemon is quite a bitch.
Jynx gains Recover and new offensive options but her typing is no longer seemingly weaknessless and isn't a top Sleeper anymore. Her typing is still superb offensively and healing when needed allows Jynx to Special sweep. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Electric/Psychic | 333 | 268 | 228 | 308 | 298 |

Bide, Body Slam, Counter, Double-Edge, Flash, Hyper Beam, Leer, Light Screen, Metronome, Mimic, Psychic, Psywave, Recover, Rest, Screech, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Thunder, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Thunderpunch, Toxic |
Electabuzz and the rest of the Tranny Trio get Recover and boosted elemental punches. A rise in special pairs nicely with the speed (and high critical hit rate). Access to dual screens is nice, and the Psychic typing adds some diversity to the sweeping potential. STAB Psychic can hit Ground types nicely, and Flash is also an option to pair with Thunder Wave. Don't let Electabuzz buzz through your team.
Electabuzz is a Special sweeper, with enough Attack to use Normal and Fighting moves if desired. Thunder Wave, Flash and Recover all support his lifespan as well as the screens. He has no Special weaknesses, so if you can keep him out of Physical damage, Electabuzz is tough to take down. |

Magmar and the rest of the Tranny Trio get Recover, and boosted elemental punches. Nice stats all around means Magmar can function well as a mixed sweeper, with emphasis on the special side. As Bugs, Grasses, Ices, Fightings, and Poisons have all been boosted significantly, Magmar's dual STAB will prove very useful. With the addition of Recover, Magmar can use the boosted recoil moves effectively to beat special walls. Watch out for Ninetales!
Magmar works as a mixed sweeper, similar to Ninetales. Magmar is also the only Fire with Recover which can work with Confuse Ray. Due to his high Attack, he's also useful against other Fire types. |

Pinsir is one powerful bug! Vicegrip and Guillotine are the main weapons, along with Slam and Submission, and these all pair nicely with Swords Dance. After SD, Pinsir will be able to 1hko a ton of pokemon. To be fair, Pinsir is now x4 weak to birds, but he does lose his weakness to Rock, which means the special side is the best way to take him down if you don't have Fearow available. This bedbug is sure to bite!
Pinsir is a powerhouse, similar to Heracross. Swords Dance supports both types unlike Kingler, but Pinsir has to watch for Flying and Specialist Pokemon. If Pinsir is faster or has a lot of Paralysis support (or creates his own with multiple ways to), Pinsir can destroy. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal/Ground | 353 | 298 | 288 | 318 | 228 |

Bide, Blizzard, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fire Blast, Fissure, Flamethrower, Horn Drill, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Leer, Mimic, Rest, Skull Bash, Stomp, Substitute, Take Down, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Tauros is as tough as ever with his new Ground typing. He can now switch in on Electric attacks and begin dishing out damage. STAB Earthquake and Stomp are quite effective, and Double-Edge is now a powerful option to compliment the old standby attacks. Tauros has some new weaknesses, but the stabbed Ground moves really help against Ghosts and Rocks. Tauros is no bull crap!
Tauros works like before and his new Ground typing can be both good and bad. He gains some resistances and an immunity, and has STAB Earthquake now, but he also gains three Special weaknesses. Otherwise, Tauros remains the same, but has a lot of new competition and won't appear on every single team anymore. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water/Dragon | 393 | 298 | 258 | 258 | 298 |

Bide, Bite, Blizzard, Double-Edge, Dragon Rage, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Leer, Mimic, Rage, Rest, Skull Bash, Splash, Substitute, Surf, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Gyarados loses his devastating weakness to Electric attacks, which immediately makes him one of the most potent pokemon in the game. A major attack nerf helps balance him out, but STAB Dragon moves like Rage and Dragon Rage mean this pokemon is a very diverse special sweeper who can still hit hard on the physical side with Double-Edge. His signature move, Splash, locks him into a STAB base 150 water attack for 2-3 turns. This Dragon's power is no longer just a legend.
Gyarados only has one weakness, but only two resistances too. Gyarados is a diverse aquatic sweeper and can hit anything hard with his Dragon attacks. Gyarados loses 50 Attack, but it's still enough to support the Normal moves for Physical support. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water/Ice | 463 | 268 | 268 | 218 | 268 |
4x | | 2x | Electric, Fighting, Grass, Rock | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Ground, Normal, Poison, Psychic | 0.5x | Water | 0.25x | Ice | 0x

Lapras has almost no change in stats, but she does gain some nice tools in Plus. The only stat change is a +10 boost to defense, which allows her to continue using Rest effectively. Next, she gets Lovely Kiss, for quite a bit more accuracy than the old Sing. Double-Edge is perfect for the physical side, and Thunder and Solarbeam are definitely options to send other aquatics to a watery grave. Perhaps most important is her new STAB move, Mist! This 100 base attack has priority, so Lapras can strike first when she needs to hit some Dragons. With all this versatility, Lapras is a great option to get you through a tough spot.
Lapras isn't changed much, but has a lot of new options due to metagame changes, such as Psychic, Solarbeam, and may want to use the Water moves now. Mist, Haze and Lovely Kiss give Lapras some new ways to be played, but ultimately remains the same. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal | 503 | 158 | 398 | 108 | 398 |
4x | | 2x | Fighting | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Electric, Fire, Flying, Grass, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, Water | 0.5x | | 0.25x | | 0x | Ghost |
Transform, Poison Gas, Toxic |
Ditto gets major defensive boosts to help the pre-transformation. He is so slow that he will certainly take a hit before using Transform. Fortunately his very high HP should be a huge asset in the post-transformation period. The enemy trainer must pick careful who he lets Ditto Transform into, as having someone such as Onix, Gengar, or Alakazam with 503 HP would be absolutely fearsome. With the addition of Toxic to Ditto's movepool, Ditto Dittos will no longer be a problem. Ditto will be a great team player.
Timing is everything, but if you can't hit Ditto safely, you'll have to switch. Don't forget that you can force switches with Ditto's presence and may not even need to Transform to be useful. The defensive stats support Transforming and the high HP gives you benefits of doing so. In a game where most Pokemon have tons of moves to use, it's helpful to find out exactly what they have. Ditto is super slow, but this is to prevent the opponent's from using moves on what would be good against themselves (Starmie's Thunderbolt, etc). |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal/Water | 463 | 228 | 238 | 228 | 318 |

Acid Armor, Bide, Bite, Blizzard, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Growl, Growth, Haze, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Mimic, Quick Attack, Reflect, Rest, Sand-Attack, Skull Bash, Substitute, Surf, Toxic, Water Gun |
Vaporeon mainly only benefits from her new Normal typing because of the immunity to Ghosts. A boost in defense means she is bulky as ever, and her signature Water Gun will be very useful. STAB Quick Attack is another exciting tool for Vaporeon. Vaporeon will definitely still use Rest to effectively stall out special sweepers, especially when paired with Growth and/or Acid Armour.
Vaporeon slowly stalls and attacks, or can use Quick Attack. Acid Armor and Growth support stalling and helps boost her Special attacks. Once setup, Vaporeon can be tough to take down, so you may want to use Vaporeon later with Paralysis support. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal/Electric | 333 | 228 | 238 | 358 | 318 |
4x | | 2x | Fighting, Ground | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Fire, Grass, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, Water | 0.5x | Electric, Flying | 0.25x | | 0x | Ghost |
Agility, Bide, Bite, Body Slam, Double Kick, Double-Edge, Flash, Growl, Growth, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Pin Missile, Quick Attack, Reflect, Rest, Sand-Attack, Skull Bash, Substitute, Thunder, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Thundershock, Toxic |
Jolteon gets a buff in defense and an immunity to Ghost, but his main boost is some move buffs. Pin Missile hits Psychics and Grasses for super effective damage, and Thundershock provides a nice special lowering attack to force switches. Quick Attack may seem like overkill, but it helps after Paralysis or against the few pokemon who out-speed. Growth + Thunder makes Jolteon a dazzling force to fight.
Jolteon is a quick sweeper and has a variety of Physical options to support his powerful Electric moves. Growth can bring Jolteon's power to deadly heights and can make the opponent's weaker too when combined with Thundershock. Jolteon is very frail though and can't take most types of attacks too well. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal/Fire | 333 | 358 | 238 | 228 | 318 |
4x | | 2x | Fighting, Ground, Rock, Water | 1x | Dragon, Electric, Flying, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic | 0.5x | Bug, Fire, Grass | 0.25x | | 0x | Ghost |
Bide, Bite, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Ember, Fire Blast, Fire Spin, Flamethrower, Growl, Growth, Hyper Beam, Leer, Mimic, Quick Attack, Reflect, Rest, Sand-Attack, Skull Bash, Substitute, Toxic |
Flareon enjoys the new Normal typing more than the other Eons since he can finally utilize his epic attack stat. Body Slam and Quick Attack will rack up major damage on the physical side, and work well with Leer. Fire Blast and Ember destroy the Bugs, Grasses, and Ice pokemon, especially when paired with Growth. Flareon is on Fire!
Flareon's massive Attack makes her the most powerful Normal in the game. Flareon doesn't have much of a moveset, but the Fire moves are still powerful and now more useful. Quick Attack covers Flareon's low Speed and does a lot of damage. Watch for all the Rocks and Waters or you'll get walled. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal | 383 | 268 | 268 | 268 | 268 |
4x | | 2x | Fighting | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Electric, Fire, Flying, Grass, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, Water | 0.5x | | 0.25x | | 0x | Ghost |
Agility, Bide, Blizzard, Confuse Ray, Conversion, Disable, Double-Edge, Flash, Haze, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Light Screen, Metronome, Mimic, Psychic, Recover, Reflect, Rest, Sharpen, Skull Bash, Substitute, Swift, Thunder, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Toxic, Tri Attack |
Porygon gets stat boosts everywhere, and continues to be the ultimate utility pokemon who can also hit in any direction. Thunder Wave, Confuse Ray, Flash, Disable, and Toxic give Porygon many ways to cripple the foe. Recover + dual screens provides great stall, and Tri Attack is Porygon's Psychic-type version of Leech Seed. Conversion is for the pros, and can work well to give Porygon STAB on Psybeam. Double-Edge + Sharpen lets Porygon strike from the physical side, and the large movepool of elemental attacks give plenty of type coverage. Porygon is a very, very versatile pokemon.
Like Golbat, Porygon can't attack very much and focuses more on status control. Porygon can Paralyze, Confuse, Disable, stall, wall, heal, leech, Haze, and much more. While Porygon is a wonderful assistance Pokemon, he can still attack with his moderate Special and can use Sharpen for Physical sweeping. He can only stop Ghost attacks though, so if Porygon is against a fast sweeper, he may not last too long without some luck. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Water/Rock | 373 | 238 | 388 | 208 | 348 |
4x | Grass | 2x | Electric, Fighting, Ground | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Ghost, Psychic, Rock, Water | 0.5x | Flying, Ice, Normal, Poison | 0.25x | Fire | 0x
Bide, Bite, Blizzard, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Horn Attack, Horn Drill, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Leer, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Spike Cannon, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Toxic, Withdraw |
Omastar gets even more bulk, and enjoys many boosted moves. Like Blastoise, Omastar most run from Grass attacks, but besides that threat, he's rather bulky. Rock Slide and Spike Cannon provide new STAB options, and Horn Attack and Blizzard allow for some type coverage to hit Omastar's counters. Withdraw lets this fossil pokemon boost his already epic special stat, making Omastar one of the game's foremost walls and slow sweepers. Pick the helix fossil!
Omastar is still the ultimate Fire counter and gains more defensive stats for other types. Omastar has Rock moves and Horn Attack for type coverage if desired, but has some of the most powerful Water attacks in the game. Grass Pokemon are lethal, but Omastar can take most other attacks. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Rock/Fighting | 323 | 358 | 308 | 258 | 238 |
4x | | 2x | Fighting, Grass, Ground, Psychic, Water | 1x | Dragon, Electric, Flying, Ghost, Ice | 0.5x | Bug, Fire, Normal, Poison, Rock | 0.25x | | 0x
Bide, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Leer, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Rolling Kick, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Slam, Slash, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Swords Dance, Toxic |
Kabutops becomes a very strong dual stabbed physical sweeper in Plus. He loses STAB on Water attacks, but makes up for it by having boosted Rock attacks and stabbed Slam and Submission. Swords Dance means Kabutops can sweep extremely effectively if allowed to set up. Pick the dome fossil!
Kabutops is another Swords Dance Physical beast, but has the best offensive typing for it, only a few Pokemon (Marowak, Mr.Mime, and others). Kabutops has a lot of weaknesses though, so you have to setup fast and start attacking. Water and Ice moves are still available for coverage, but they may not find their way into your moveset. Paralysis support is important if you want to have Kabutops take on more than one Pokemon. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Rock/Dragon | 323 | 308 | 228 | 358 | 228 |
4x | | 2x | Dragon, Fighting, Ground, Ice | 1x | Bug, Ghost, Grass, Psychic, Rock, Water | 0.5x | Electric, Flying, Normal, Poison | 0.25x | Fire | 0x
Agility, Bide, Bite, Double-Edge, Dragon Rage, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Fly, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Rage, Rest, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Sky Attack, Substitute, Swift, Toxic, Wing Attack |
Aerodactyl gets Dragon status in Plus. He now resists Electric instead of running from it, and gets STAB Rock attacks and some nice Dragon moves for the special side. He also enjoys the new Flying attacks, although he no longer gets STAB there. Still, Aerodactyl's speed, attack, and type make him one of the deadliest sweepers in the game. He is the perfect counter for many of the other quick pokemon, and outspeeds nearly everyone. Old Amber won't be so rare in Plus...
Aerodactyl is a fast hybrid sweeper, that can hit everything well. Aerodactyl is great for many technical and Sleeper leads such as Butterfree and Golbat, but has to watch for possible switch-ins like Blastoise. Aerodactyl can also be used a late sweeper that will likely outspeed everything. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Normal | 523 | 318 | 228 | 138 | 228 |
4x | | 2x | Fighting | 1x | Bug, Dragon, Electric, Fire, Flying, Grass, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, Water | 0.5x | | 0.25x | | 0x | Ghost |
Amnesia, Bide, Blizzard, Body Slam, Counter, Double-Edge, Earthquake, Fire Blast, Fissure, Flamethrower, Headbutt, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Metronome, Mimic, Psychic, Reflect, Rest, Seismic Toss, Selfdestruct, Skull Bash, Solarbeam, Submission, Substitute, Surf, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Snorlax is slower than ever, but he's not complaining about his Plus makeover. The boost to Double-Edge helps Snorlax more than anyone else, and Submission will tear through Normal, Ice, and Rock foes. Snorlax can also still use Amnesia to cover his special weakness and hit in may different directions. Solar Beam and Thunder are options for an Amnesia set, as well as Headbutt. Rock Slide and Earthquake hit the Ghosts, and Self-D hits pretty much everyone else. Snorlax is still an effective user of Rest to sleep away his worries.
Snorlax is still a bulky Normal sweeper that gains benefits from all the changed moves and new types of Pokemon that may appear. Double-Edge and Submission are great Physical additions. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Ice/Flying | 383 | 288 | 298 | 288 | 348 |
4x | Rock | 2x | Electric, Fire | 1x | Dragon, Fighting, Flying, Ghost, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Water | 0.5x | Bug, Grass | 0.25x | | 0x | Ground |
Agility, Bide, Blizzard, Double-Edge, Drill Peck, Fly, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Mimic, Mist, Reflect, Rest, Sky Attack, Substitute, Toxic |
Articuno finally gets Drill Peck to deal with special walls, and an increase in attack helps this as well. Sky Attack and Fly are also viable options, perhaps paired with Toxic/Rest. Articuno's Blizzard continues to be one of the strongest attacks in the game, and Articuno now has priority in Mist. It's up to the trainer to decide if priority is worth losing a bit of power and no chance to freeze. Articuno is still the most ethereal bird in the air!
Articuno is still your tough bird that has strong Ice attacks. Articuno's main change is gaining Drill Peck and Mist helps when you need to attack fast. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Electric/Flying | 383 | 288 | 288 | 298 | 348 |
4x | | 2x | Ice, Rock | 1x | Dragon, Electric, Fire, Ghost, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Water | 0.5x | Bug, Fighting, Flying, Grass | 0.25x | | 0x | Ground |
Agility, Bide, Double-Edge, Drill Peck, Flash, Fly, Hyper Beam, Light Screen, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Sky Attack, Substitute, Thunder, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Zapdos gets slight attack and defense boosts, and enjoys the strength in Sky Attack and Fly. Flying is more important in Plus due to the boost in Grass, Bug, and Fighting, so Zapdos will not fall out of use. Zapdos still boasts Light Screen and Flash over the other legendaries. Thunder has increased paralysis and accuracy, which finally makes it a viable, powerful option. Zapdos is still the flashiest bird in the sky!
Zadpos gets minor stat boosts and has significantly improved moves. Otherwise, Zapdos is still your Electric that can fight Grasses superbly. Watch for Grounds. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Fire/Flying | 383 | 298 | 288 | 288 | 348 |
4x | Rock | 2x | Electric, Ice, Water | 1x | Dragon, Flying, Ghost, Normal, Poison, Psychic | 0.5x | Fire, Fighting | 0.25x | Bug, Grass | 0x | Ground |
Agility, Bide, Double-Edge, Drill Peck, Fire Blast, Fire Spin, Flamethrower, Fly, Fury Attack, Glare, Hyper Beam, Mimic, Reflect, Rest, Screech, Sky Attack, Substitute, Toxic |
Moltres is stronger than ever, now with Drill Peck and powerful two-turn STAB options. Fire's increased necessity in Plus should bring Moltres up to par with the rest of the trio. Moltres can now give the evil eye with Glare, and Screech should scare away some special walls. Fire Blast hits physicals for devastating damage and baleful burns. Moltres is still the most dazzling bird on the horizon.
Since Fire overlaps with Flying more than Electric and Ice, Moltres gains Glare and Screech to support Physical sweeping. Moltres continues to have the strongest Fire attacks and is a serious threat to forest critters regardless if they have high Defense or Special. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Dragon | 393 | 368 | 258 | 258 | 298 |
4x | | 2x | Dragon, Ice | 1x | Bug, Fighting, Flying, Ghost, Ground, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock | 0.5x | Electric, Fire, Grass, Water | 0.25x | | 0x
Bide, Blizzard, Constrict, Double-Edge, Dragon Rage, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Horn Drill, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Mimic, Rage, Reflect, Rest, Skull Bash, Substitute, Surf, Thrash, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Toxic |
Dragonite is mono-Dragon in Plus. This lose of Flying typing makes him only x2 weak to Ice. He now resists electricity and takes neutral damage from Rocks. His draconic attacks are very strong, especially his signature Thrash (think Outrage). Dragonite also has the highest attack of any Dragon, so Double-Edge and Hyper beam help him to not be totally walled by pokemon like Chansey and Vaporeon. Constrict replaces Thunder Wave to paralyze foes, and legal Horn Drill is also an option. This Dragon is truly outrageous!
Dragonite's loss of Flying typing shows the Dragon type off more, being resistant to four Special types. He can attack everything with Thrash, but it can miss and is easily walled by high Special Pokemon. Dragonite has many other options though including all his Special moves and enough Attack that could make him a mixed sweeper. Constrict with Horn Drill is another possibility. Dragonite has problems against other Dragons though as he is tied for the slowest with them. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Psychic | 383 | 298 | 258 | 328 | 408 |
4x | | 2x | Bug, Ghost | 1x | Dragon, Electric, Fire, Flying, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Rock, Water | 0.5x | Fighting, Psychic | 0.25x | | 0x
Bide, Body Slam, Counter, Double-Edge, Flash, Hyper Beam, Metronome, Psybeam, Seismic Toss, Skull Bash, Submission, Substitute, Swift, Toxic |
Mewtwo gets some extreme nerfs, including the loss of Recover and all special attacks stronger than base 95. This allows him to play in standard without being too broken. He is still very fast (with a high crit rate), very bulky, and extremely powerful on both the physical and special side. He has the highest special stat in the game, so he should be able hit a lot of pokemon hard. Selfdestruct allows him to finish with dignity.
Mewtwo is nerfed enough to be legal, by losing a lot of moves, including all forms of healing. He has the highest Special still, making him a strong Special sweeper of many types. He also has Bugs and Ghosts to deal with now, and can have problems with other high Special Pokemon. |
Type | HP | ATK | DEF | SPD | SPE | Psychic | 353 | 218 | 218 | 218 | 218 |
4x | | 2x | Bug, Ghost | 1x | Dragon, Electric, Fire, Flying, Ground, Ice, Normal, Poison, Rock, Water | 0.5x | Fighting, Psychic | 0.25x | | 0x
Mew is extremely nerfed in the stat department, but learns everything, allowing him to do pretty much whatever needs to be done. Stat-ups like Amnesia, Swords Dance, Agility, and Barrier mean Mew can set up effectively, especially when combined with Recover. Attacks like Thrash, Strength, Pay Day, and especially Psybeam will give Mew extreme power. The arsenal of utility moves is also available, and anything else you can imagine. Mew is definitely the most diverse pokemon in the game.
Create a moveset, like Smeargle. Mew can abuse powerful move combinations, or just be difficult to approach due to unpredictability. When using Mew, either use technical moves such as Spore, Super Fang, Swords Dance, and others, or use him as a sweeper of any type to be ready for any opponent. Mew is very lacking in stats though, so if you aren't able to exploit move combinations, Mew will be a poor Psychic Pokemon. |

Interesting idea... it will probably take a while to work out balance issues (and a while to get used to), but it should be fun to be able to use some of the improved pokemon in viable teams.
Hopefully the RBY community increases upon the release of a new simulator... I'll hopefully be able to play a bit more in the new year, looking forward to RBYplus!
p.s. I noticed there aren't any NFE pokemon. Are you going to take them out, make them weaker versions of their fully evolved counterparts, or make completely new pokemon out of them?

I am really, really excited about all this. It's like the patch I always wanted that I never thought would come. Pretty much all of the changes look good to me and I love the direction it's going in. Incredible work here

This is looking great. Can't wait for a release. I disagree with a nerf on Lickitung, it looks like he needs additional buffs, not nerfs. A speed nerf on Snorlax could be neat though. I suggested to Icy earlier that Ditto should learn Metronome as well as Transform, and I think it'd be great if implemented. Ditto dittos will be full of lolz. A more serious suggestion is that you remake Strength into Bulk Up, eg. making it raise the users Attack and Defense one level. Also, you can't leave Swift and Bide as-is - nobody will use them. Also, minor note - Tauros currently doesn't have his Ghost immunity listed. =p

The Bubblebeam change is certainly interesting. Well done thinking of that. Adds the statistical awesomeness to that awesome negative attack animation.
Turns Starmie into a possible Special sweeper. Faster than RBY Tauros with 10 more power too. Granted, Water typing isn't exactly the same as Normal typing, but Starmie will certainly be a possibility.
I'm a bit worried about Amnesia Golduck with Bubblebeam, but I suspect with play it shouldn't be too bad.

At first I didn't like the concept of RBY Plus, but I looked at the work, and it's amazing. I liked how you made every mon unique and increased the variety in move options. I feel like some moves are a little overpowering, though; 100 priority has to be nerfed man. 20% is still very accurate for an OHKO move imo. I would at least bring it down to 10-15%, to balance the OHKO with no drawbacks. I personally prefer removing the OHKO effect outright (like how evasion is removed), and do something creative like you have done with the other moves. For example, OHKO moves could have 200 Base Power, 50% accuracy, 100% flinch rate if it hits. Still has the speed concept similar to OHKO (must be faster in order to flinch), but arguably less lethal / luck-oriented. You mention Growth on Flareon, but I didn't see it in its movelist. There were other moves instances where the move you mentioned in the description was missing. Anyways, cool stuff. I still stand that its not Pokemon, but I certainly appreciate the competitive spirit and the endeavor, like the CAP in Smogon. I am definitely interested in its development

i think the idea is great, and it seems very well done, it actually seems as all the pokemon are balanced and it still is RBY (mainly for the pokes) but it's incredibly diverse and very offensive(always attracting new players ). The only reccomendation i have is changing lickitung, it seems(in my opinion) overpowered, it has no weaknesses, it's inmune to 3 types, it has very good HP and it gets SD to compensate for attack(and it also can affect neutraly to all pokes except itself with STAB attacks. It just seems too powerful, but we'll see when we get to actually play, i know i'll be using Licky

Moved this thread and the affirming comments along with it, leaving the development comments. Thus, some of these may seem out of context or unanswered. See the old thread for context.
RBYPlus will be up and running very soon.

Gengar has 203 HP (too low if you ask me). The descriptions are partly outdated.
I'll update the OP with the latest info - priority moves get a nerf, as does lock-in moves, Aerodactyl's special goes to 228 and Arbok's special goes to 288 and he gains Mist.

Some fun things I noted - Poison is regarded as a poor offensive type, but Poison/Ground (AKA, NidoSTAB) hits every Plus Pokémon at least neutrally, with the exception of Golbat. Not bad! On a slightly related note, Fire/Ground (AKA, RapiSTAB) hits every Plus Pokémon at least neutrally except for Moltres. Hooray for research! I'll continue with this and edit this post as I go along.
Edit: I'm currently at Tentacruel. Wigglytuff and Butterfree have perfect coverage with their STAB alone, Tentacruel is only resisted by himself.

Here it is: The great guide to what is resisted by YOUR Pokémon's STAB moves. Only features dual-typed STAB monsters - I didn't see any point in including mono-types. I also didn't include the Dragon-types, as they have perfect coverage by design. Resisted dual-STAB, excluding Dragon Pokémon and assuming Ghost deals *2 to Psychic:
Venusaur (Grass, Ground): Scyther, Moltres, Golbat (0.25, 0) Parasect (0.25, 0,25) Butterfree, Beedrill, Vileplume, Exeggutor (0.5, 0,5)
Blastoise (Water, Ground): Tangela (0.25, 0.5) Parasect (0.5, 0,25) Kingler, Exeggutor, Vileplume (0.5, 0,5)
Butterfree (Bug, Psychic): Perfect coverage!
Fearow (Normal, Flying): Magneton (0.5, 0,25) All other Rocks except Kabutops (0.5, 0.5)

Moltres (Fire, Flying) Omanyte (0.25, 0.5) Magneton (0.5, 0.25) Raichu, all other Rocks except Kabutops, Cloyster (0.5, 0.5) The tl;dr version is like this: Wigglytuff, Butterfree and (slightly surprising) Vaporeon and Tauros have perfect coverage with their STAB alone. All of those have physical and special STAB except Tauros, but none of those three have over 238 in both stats, so they're not super dangerous. Poliwrath also blocks surprisingly many unique things, for example Kingler and Omastar.

Pretty much. Aero was too powerful even after the Special nerf. We'll see what happens with him. Dugtrio getting a speed boost to 358 also hurts Aero, as a Take Down from Dugtrio is a OHKO (with a decent roll).

If it's possible when cartridge mechanics are released - at the moment, we cannot change that.
(I'd also totally change Poison to deal 1/8th)

We kept Poison as a negative consequence of Sludge and Twin Needle.

Poison is not that bad in plus. I'd even go ahead and say I'd rather get a free posion on most opponents most of the times.

Of course, depends on foe - but when you use Twineedle, I'd also argue that Poison is a positive, given who's likely to take it. I think there's no Recover user resisting Twineedle. Sludge is arguable - a poisoned Chansey for example is still bothersome, although it gives Sandslash and probably others a OHKO with Submission.

This is just me talking without any basis - but if Freeze had a 10%/20% of thawing each round or so, like the future generations, would you prefer that to RBY freeze?
I obviously would since I am bringing it up. Not sure if it'll be possible in future Plus versions though, so don't count on it even if there's big support for it.
