Hello everyone,
Some of you have already met me on PO and I'd like to thank you for the interesting battles and conversations we've had so far.
After playing some really fun classic RBY matches I became interested in the metagame again. Since the times of NetBattle and GSC I have been an active competitive battler, mostly in the third generation (which is a fantastic metagame, but a lot more serious and involved than RBY in my opinion). After the third generation, I lost motivation to keep up with the drastic metagame changes that were made in the fourth and later generations so I never really played them.
At the age of 6 I was introduced to Pokémon Blue and since then Pokémon really took me. I didn't even speak English yet, but I had to know everything about the game that I was able to understand. I started looking up stuff, discovered there were many formulae involved and I became interested in competitive battling when the Battle Tower in Pokémon Crystal was there. Eventually, I started playing NetBattle and the Pokémon World really opened up for me. I experienced a LOT of battles and studies the styles of the best players at the moment.
Now I wanted to quit Pokémon because it was taking too much time away from my study and various other things, but instead I "fell in love" with the old games again. I consider myself an expert when it comes to exact battle mechanics, ingame information and the abuse of glitches.
I am writing a book about RBY (recently started) by which I want to cover everything there is to know about the games. A walkthrough, chapter about in-depth game mechanics, glitches, glitch pokémon, [ competitive ] (this will be long) and data charts. Due to time restrictions, this will be a very slow and long project but it would be nice if I could ever complete it and contribute it here. Maybe we can all contribute!
I am very happy there is still a community dedicated to the competitive aspect of RBY and I am eager to learn much more about the metagame from experienced players in this generation. This is for recreation as well as for the quality of the competitive chapter in the book.
About my personal life -- I am a third grade mathematics student in Leiden (Holland) and I enjoy various kinds of sports.
See you on the forums and on PO!
