Dodrio Riot! [Fun battle vs Marcoasd]

Okay so I was testing a really fun team I'd put together versus marco for the fun of it, and then bullied him into us making a warstory of it together, and then decided I was too lazy to buly him properly. My team's idea was to instead of bothering with huge amounts of defensive synergy, use fast physical offense to destroy the opponent, with exeggutor being a mixed attacking-bomb-sleeper, and supersonic cloyster and clamping superhero. Alas cloyster doesn't put in work this match.. but there's some wonderful suprises in store. A fun RBY warstory, I hope you enjoy it :3

So this is a pretty nice initial lead situation.. I know that duggy is a bad lead but I wanted to test it. Naturally I try and punish gengar with the earthquake although I know it's easily spongible, especially by eggy. No obvious real solution to that issue as it is a risky situation, but allowing duggy to sack sleep usually means it's done its job anyway. This leads to a predictable turn 1.

He didn't run double powder, so I was safe not risking stun spore. Probably a poor turn in some respects, and I also don't totally understand the Lapras switch but whenever he does it it seems to pay off so I will question it and learn from it

This is a crucial mistake in my game; it may not be a serious game, but this was the most serious mistake. I should have used this chance with the obvious thunderbolt lure to switch in something which had enough bulk to boldy tank it, i.e. eggy in this instance, since it was still too strong for tauros to be worth using versus it, and then threaten with sleep. But no, I reveal at a bad time the supersonic Cloyster and virtually forfeit the match at this point.

Duggy is already asleep so nothing to fear more than explosion. I should have probably sacked cloyster to it, but eggy survives it dented but ultimately still functional. I'm running Psychic/Egg Bomb/Explosion/Sleep Powder just since it seemed useful, and the most offensive possible set for this team.

On this turn, I sleep the lapras. Lucky that he didn't blizzard, what with him overpredicting that I'd switch out of a powerful STAB ice attack with a weakened slower grass type. Pfft, who'd do that? Anyway, the risky play payed off, and I slept his lapras, which in the later game turned out to be a meaningful advantage, in spite of my defeat, and that cloyster was of little use more than fodder by this point.

Somehow I'm 5-4 up, but not for long! I make a daft fodder to his hyper beam, although at this point I don't remember any other options, I just remember expecting him to body slam for whatever reason so I could explode. A narrow-minded thought, and his hyper beam not only isn't a body slam, not even fails to miss, but also critical hits to seal the KO, not that the critical hit was nessecary.

For a first time testing dodrio, I'm not unimpressed.

Alas, as chansey is out, this would be the time for cloyster to come in, had it not been played so poorly, taking in an obvious ice beam. I'm not sure whether my plays were really incorrect; predicting an ice beam at this turn seemed sensible. Still, I was mistaken.

The threat of drill peck gave me a free chance to mimic....... well what did you expect me to do?! Anyway, this turn out to be an amazing tool to turn the match into something vaguely like favouring me. I use confuse ray, and body slam until lapras awakens. For a first time testing dodrio, I'm not unimpressed.

And that was a pleasent mildly improbable turn of events. Somehow, Dodrio has defeated 2 pokemon! Alas, as chansey is out, this would be the time for cloyster to come in, had it not been played so poorly, taking in an obvious ice beam. I'm not sure whether my plays were really incorrect; predicting an ice beam at this turn seemed sensible. Still, I was mistaken.
