Hey guys, I'm Isa, I'm from Sweden. I've always been a fan of the Pokémon series, and I'm playing the TCG, but haven't played any video game newer than Ruby. I got my Pokemon Blue when I was seven years old and was hooked from the start. I've played with NetBattle once prior to finding and joining this forum, I think it was way back in 2007 or maybe earlier - FRLG had yet to be released though, so it was a while ago. Hopefully things look kind of the same (currently setting a team up). If someone would like to play and teach me I'd be very thankful I'll probably need all kinds of advice. I'll try to create my own team, but what I'm most worried about is the actual gameplay. I suppose that is something I'll learn after a while Also, just like t3h Icy, I'm a Super Smash Bros. Melee player Shoutout to him for linking here in a thread on another forum. I don't know what to add more, really...but I guess I'll see you around or something?

Welcome. n_n The main servers for Netbattle are: atq.zapto.org (main server of Netbattle) rby2k10.kicks-ass.net (our own, small RBY server) A lot of players here are folk that were interested in Pokemon for nostalgia purposes, and competitive RBY is a whole new world to explore. It can be a bit addicting if you really get into it. If you need any help or pointers, you can ask us, makes some threads on the board, etc. A lot of people would be willing to train you up if you'd like too. Also don't worry too much about timezones; there's a lot of international players. KiNGskruffi is German, Crystal is Spanish, Infernum (France) doesn't really play much anymore, and there's others from other communities too. And there's actually a lot of Smashers here too. It seems to be a re-occurring thing here that RBY players also play 64/Melee/Brawl. Infernum, WaterWizard, Posthuman, Supreme Dirt, Brookman, and tons others all do. Anyway, nice to see you around.

Welcome, Isa!
Be pretty sure you'll improve your abilities here. There are lots of heavyweight players around (WaterWizard, Zilch, Posthuman, Crystal, Icy and so on) that can give some tips and be great sparring partners.
See you around!

Thank you guys! I read through the tier list before signing up, but just using OU's randomly won't make a good team, no? Rhydon, Golem, Chansey, Persian, Articuno and Lapras doesn't sound like it'd make a good team because they aren't varied enough. Right now my team consists of Alakazam, Gengar, Chansey and Golem. Currently looking for my two final additions (Zapdos will probably be one...Tauros for the last one?). Also, I can't find Mega Drain for Gengar, only Giga Drain - is it the same?

Umm, I don't think you've set things to RBY. When you're in the Team Builder Menu, click the Version tab at the top left, and select "True RBY". Otherwise you'll be playing a different generation, or RBY with tradebacks (GSC moves).
Don't worry too much about making the perfect team your first time. Ideally, just play with what you think might work, or play with your favorites. You'll learn through battle what works and what doesn't, and you can edit things as you get the hang of RBY. =)

You should add that to the Welcome sticky I'll join you on your kick-ass server in less than ten minutes!

Hey Isa.
You'll get better here if you stick with it. I recommend training with Icy first, and then WaterWizard. They're both good , but much different. I'm not active enough to train anyone, but I'd love to spar every once in awhile.

Welcome to the forums - I know, I'm a little late in the welcome.
Like some of the others, I also play Smash, although I'm purely offline. I'm probably one of the few that still actively plays the original Pokemon carts for fun, rather than competitively.
For teams, don't be scared to try something new compared to the normal OU pokemon. They are OU for a reason, but occasionally a new trick using a BL or NU pokemon shows up that forces everyone to change their tactics.

Hey I didn't know you were a Melee player! If you have Project M we should verse each other sometime online.

The majority of players here are Smashers actually.

I am, but I'm pretty bad, haha. I don't own a Wii, unfortunately, and then there's the issue of me living in Sweden as well so the delay would be horribad. =p
But yeah, a lot of people play Smash here. I found this place through Icy when he posted on Smashboards.
