Blastoise becomes a Quagsire-like pokemon; bulky, immune to Electric, terribly weak to Grass. He now gets STAB Earthquake and a Special stat-up move, Withdraw. Spike Cannon is his multi-hit Water attack, shared with Cloyster and Omastar. Blastoise should be quite a tough wall for a handful of pokes, especially with his new resistance to Rock and Poison. He's no tiny turtle.
Blastoise is a very tough wall for Physical attacks and is immune to Electric which often assists Pokemon in taking out defensive aquatics. Grass has to be avoided, but Blastoise can otherwise slowly take down the opponents with a mix of moves. |

Blastoise has one of the better typings in the game, being weak to only one type (Grass), although he'll suffer terribly from being hit by any of those moves. Being a Water type that manages to counter Electrics is a unique feature that'll grant him a place on many teams. His defensive stats are great and his offensive typing is only resisted by Grasses, which he should run from either way. Withdraw and Spike Cannon is a powerful combination. Blastoise is a great Pokémon.
