Poliwrath is just another mixed sweeper. Or is he? He hits very hard in several directions, has access to a sleep move, and can special sweep with Amnesia. His typing is useful because he is only weak to four types, and three of them are covered by Amnesia. Lastly, with the big boosts to fighting moves, Poliwrath can finally harness his physical power.
Poliwrath can be used in many different ways such as a Sleeper, a Physical sweeper or a Special sweeper. Or all of them! While Poliwrath hasn't gained too many boosts, the new use of Fighting moves allows for offense that is hard to stop with Water and Ground supporting him. Amnesia is key and lets Poliwrath work like a modified Golduck. |

Poliwrath is one of the Pokémon with the most diverse movesets. Having access to Amnesia, Hypnosis, various physical and special moves as well as Counter, handling Poliwrath completely depends on what kind of moveset it has. Is it an AmnesiaRester? Is it a mixed sweeper with Counter? Is it a backup sleeper? The only way to find out is to be hit by him, as there is no move that is truly necessary on him. Handle with care!
