Electabuzz and the rest of the Tranny Trio get Recover and boosted elemental punches. A rise in special pairs nicely with the speed (and high critical hit rate). Access to dual screens is nice, and the Psychic typing adds some diversity to the sweeping potential. STAB Psychic can hit Ground types nicely, and Flash is also an option to pair with Thunder Wave. Don't let Electabuzz buzz through your team.
Electabuzz is a Special sweeper, with enough Attack to use Normal and Fighting moves if desired. Thunder Wave, Flash and Recover all support his lifespan as well as the screens. He has no Special weaknesses, so if you can keep him out of Physical damage, Electabuzz is tough to take down. |

Electabuzz (and Magmar) turn into a dual type with his new Psychic typing. Having access to Recover and STAB Psychic is plenty of helpful, as is the decent attack stat which you can use on Submission to keep Chansey and the like on their toes. Other than that, Electabuzz does the same thing as any other electric - paralyzes with Thunder Wave and hits hard with an Electric attack. Electabuzz has the slight advantage of having access to Thunderpunch, which has slightly higher power than Thunderbolt, though you might still opt for Thunderbolt due to the higher PP. Watch out for Tauros and Dugtrio who outspeeds you, are immune to Thunder Wave and can OHKO you with Take Down.
