Magmar and the rest of the Tranny Trio get Recover, and boosted elemental punches. Nice stats all around means Magmar can function well as a mixed sweeper, with emphasis on the special side. As Bugs, Grasses, Ices, Fightings, and Poisons have all been boosted significantly, Magmar's dual STAB will prove very useful. With the addition of Recover, Magmar can use the boosted recoil moves effectively to beat special walls. Watch out for Ninetales!
Magmar works as a mixed sweeper, similar to Ninetales. Magmar is also the only Fire with Recover which can work with Confuse Ray. Due to his high Attack, he's also useful against other Fire types. |

Magmar (and Electabuzz) turn into a dual type with his new Psychic typing. Like with Electabuzz, STAB Psychic, Recover and a good elemental punch is helpful for Magmar. He also has the best attack stat out of the "Tranny Trio", so don't be afraid to try Submission or Body Slam or any other physical move. Confuse Ray is also available for hax. Watch out for Starmie who'll wall you with ease.
