Porygon gets stat boosts everywhere, and continues to be the ultimate utility pokemon who can also hit in any direction. Thunder Wave, Confuse Ray, Flash, Disable, and Toxic give Porygon many ways to cripple the foe. Recover + dual screens provides great stall, and Tri Attack is Porygon's Psychic-type version of Leech Seed. Conversion is for the pros, and can work well to give Porygon STAB on Psybeam. Double-Edge + Sharpen lets Porygon strike from the physical side, and the large movepool of elemental attacks give plenty of type coverage. Porygon is a very, very versatile pokemon.
Like Golbat, Porygon can't attack very much and focuses more on status control. Porygon can Paralyze, Confuse, Disable, stall, wall, heal, leech, Haze, and much more. While Porygon is a wonderful assistance Pokemon, he can still attack with his moderate Special and can use Sharpen for Physical sweeping. He can only stop Ghost attacks though, so if Porygon is against a fast sweeper, he may not last too long without some luck. |

Porygon, the technical Pokémon. The only thing he cannot do is sleep the foe, but everything else is a check. Paralysis, burns, freezes, confusion, leeching, disabling, lowering accuracy, stat boosting, instant recovery - he's got it all. The stats are well-rounded to make him avilable to serve any given purpose. Sharpen allows him to go for a physical route, and it can be hard to stop if you lack Fighting Pokémon as he's the only Attack and/or Special booster that has access to an instant recovery move, except for Mr. Mime and Onix (who only boosts at half the speed and has a lower base attack stat). Tri Attack, Recover and Thunder Wave makes him an annoyer that's very hard to kill and spreads paralysis if you switch out. Finally, there's still his old signature move Conversion if you want to avoid taking super effective damage from Fightings or just annoy your foe by being unpredictable.
