Player Signups for the 3rd Smogon Premier League will be happening in 2-3 weeks, and after some discussion the format is going to include Smogon's RBY OU (like the previous two). For those who don't know, SPL is one of two major team tournaments held annually on Smogon, the other being the World Cup of Pokemon. There are ten team managers and each manager is responsible for forming a team by participating in a player auction. It is their job to form a team that is capable of filling in all of the tier slots (RBY OU/GSC OU/ADV OU/etc..) well enough to win at least 6 of the 10 slots each week. The top four teams at the end of the season progress to the playoffs. Among those who participated last year are gorgie, spies, Nitro, Borat, myself, The_Chaser, and probably others you might be familiar with as well.
There was actually the possibility that RBY would be taken out because it was seen as unnecessarily thinning out Smogon's small group of players that are experienced in RBY and GSC, and because RBY is perceived to be all about luck by some of the people involved in making the decision. However, myself and a few others have debated to keep RBY in SPL since we feel that a) RBY can be picked up fairly easily to a reasonable skill level by anyone willing to spend some time practising, b) RBY is definitely not all luck, and c) Players from current RBY communities (i.e. here) will hopefully be interested in joining.
For those interested, Smogon's RBY OU rules are:
Note that a Wrap/Clamp/Fire Spin/Bind ban is not present, so they are allowed. Many RBY players on Smogon don't use it anyway since it is often unreliable.
Also, note that even if you sign up you might not be picked, so if you feel like it you can advertise that you are from RBY2K10 or hype yourself up when you sign up You may be asked to show your skill against one of the managers or assistant managers when they are trying to figure out who to pick. In general (unless you come off as annoying or something), the more proactive you are about getting picked, the more likely you will be. All you will need to participate is a Smogon account, although it will definitely help if you can get onto Smogon IRC to chat with managers and hopefully your team.
The level of competition should be pretty high so if you are looking for a challenge this is a good chance! Hope to see some of you there.

For those interested, Smogon's RBY OU rules are:
All matches must be played on Netbattle Supremacy.
No GSC tradebacks.
You are not allowed to use Mewtwo or Mew.
Species Clause: A player cannot have two of the same Pokémon on their team. For example, a player cannot have two Koffing on his or her team.
Sleep Clause: A player cannot put two or more different opposing Pokémon to sleep using attacks that induce sleep to opposing Pokémon.
Freeze Clause: A player cannot freeze two or more different opposing Pokémon.
Evasion Clause: A player cannot increase their Pokémon's evasion stat with a move that specifically increases evasion.
OHKO Clause: Players cannot use moves that have a chance of instantly KOing an opposing Pokémon. For example, Horn Drill is an illegal move to have on a Pokémon's move set.
Self-KO Clause: Players cannot use moves such as Explosion or Selfdestruct that force a tie. If a move that has recoil damage causes a tie, the user of the move is the winner.
Battle Timeout must be enabled.
"No Spectators" is by default disabled, however, if both player agree to have it on, then you may use this clause. Additionally, if you are asked by either player to remove yourself from the battle and you are not a teammate of either battler, you will respect their request and leave the battle, on the threat of disqualification for that week.
