October LC Tournament Last year when we hosted LC, we had little interest due to busyness but still had a good round robin of sets. Zilch ultimately beat me 3-2 for 1st placing in an extremely close set. What is it?For those new to the scene, LC is code for Little Cup, a fun and exciting metagame composed of quick, short matches. Essentially, you can only use first-stage evolutions of Pokemon, and all their levels must be 5. For the tier list and some basic strategy, have a look at this thread. FormatThe tournament will be double-elimination with a random, pre-seeded bracket. If we don't have a nice number of players entering, 1st Seeds may receive Byes. Also, if we have low interest again, we may just do another Round Robin. In that case, I'll go over that more in the tournament thread. Due to the shortness of battles and how important it is not to make mistakes all sets will be best 3 of 5. I assure you though that these will still take less time than 2/3 OU, UU, etc. LC is very fast. Rules-Only 1st-Forms that are capable of evolving may be used. This means Charmander and Pikachu are allowed, but Scyther and Chansey are not. For our tiers, see this thread. -All Pokemon must be exactly Level 5 -Wrapping moves are banned (Bind, Clamp, Fire Spin, Wrap) -OHKO moves are banned (Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill) -Evasion moves are banned (Double Team, Minimize) -Set-Damage moves are banned due to the low HP of Pokemon (Dragon Rage, Sonicboom). For clarity, Seismic Toss, Night Shade and Psywave are all fine -All 6 Pokemon must be different (Species Clause) -Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, Self-KO Clause -Apply PP Ups -Both players may change teams after each battle* *It's easy to forget to set Levels to 5 when you change teams. Be absolutely sure that all six of your Pokemon are Level 5 before each battle or you might end up losing a game due to DQ. EntrantsWe'll shoot for 8, but we can work with more or less. Sign-ups will be open until October 1st and then I'll start the tournament. 1. t3h Icy 2. Crystal 3. Cheese 4. Isa 5. Garrin Red 6. DragonAura 7. Destiny Warrior

In for sure
BTW, the rankings I made, are meant to make seedings for our tournament I guess... Also i'm pretty sure you select how to place the players after selecting the seedings, Icy? Because i'd use something like random.org for that.

To be honest, I haven't used your rankings just because it's a mix of OU and gimmicks, and players that enter everything are much more favored. So for example, while Nerd is ranked 8th on your list, I'd still probably give him 1st Seed in most tournaments. The reason why he's lower is because he doesn't enter very much, which is why I still think an average of tournaments would be a lot better than just a point system. Sorry, Crystal. I usually use Tio for making brackets, but I stopped using their images and made my own since people got confused before. I adjust 1st Seeds if there's a big skill gap between them and others (for example, putting Isa and Zilch on opposite sides for NU), and if we have multiple guests, I try to separate them so that they get a chance to play different people. Both of those can be done with Tio and I make a few adjustments if necessary, but the rest is random.

OK. Just pointing out, as it's a RBY2K10 tournament, the most reasonable way to make seedings will be using the scores of RBY2k10 tourns imo, rather than basing them on the skill you think players have, which is subjective and isn't equal for every tier maybe. I don't really care though as I guess I'm still a 1st seed!

Crystal, the staff has always carefully made the seedings/placements for the tournaments, utilizing useful tools such as Tio. We've never had a problem at all (except when GGfan complained about being pooled with Nerd), and we'll continue to do everything in a balanced manner. As Icy said, the rankings system is nice, but it should not be used as a ruler for tournament seedings/placement, due to the fact that the rankings are based on participation and also includes various gimmicky tournaments.

Ooo, sounds fun, sign me up! I haven't been in a tournament or tried LC before, I'm assuming people will be up for fun/practice battles beforehand? I don't want to go in blind!

LC is pretty easy to learn and the most important part is your reads. Luck plays a big factor though.
Zilch and I can play LC with you if you're ever on the server. The tier thread is also a good way to get started.
