So all that's left are Tristan, Gabe and Garrin Red's sets.

So....umm....I've been dead the past week or two. I don't even want to talk about it, all sorts of crazy stuff going on in my life. I'm sorry. I'm alive again if that counts for anything. I'll try to get my sets done ASAP. Guys I need to battle, can you PM me with good times for you so we can try to make something work?

Oh okay, looks like I don't need to kick you then. =P
Just show some signs of life; if you're just really busy, we can wait, but if you're completely gone, we're assuming you're not coming back.
Also face Posthuman in your Trainee War match. =)

Ice types cannot be frozen in RBY (at least on NBS). To prove this, I just did a test using nearly 150 potentially freezing attacks against Cloyster with a 0% success rate. (log: pastebin.com/QXe12WP6)

Well that bulbapedia place said ice types can be frozen in gen I. I told em I tried it in the yellow version and couldn't do it and then someone else said they tried to freeze an Articuno like 100 times and couldn't. So now it says ice types can't get frozen period.
Garrinred I'll play today if you can.

OK, definitely freeze types are immune to freeze.

Post another time: This is going extremely slow. I think that for the next tournament we should eliminate the Pools and make random seedings or seedings based in the results of the previous tournaments. Do you agree? And abaut the freeze discussion Im going to ask it in Smogon I do agree that the concept of pools prolongs these tournaments longer than they need to be. I don't think there's such a thing as a mismatch in a forum like this, where almost everyone has adequate experience in RBY.

I wasn't sure how fluent players were with UU, and it really shows who knows what they're doing and who doesn't.
Also this tournament has 10 players, so it would be difficult to make it even for all players unless there were a huge Round Robin after some matches.

ok, just use both ou and uu results for the next tournament seeding. Agree?

You could do group formatting in the first round if you have an odd number of players next time. What you do is place everyone in groups of the same number, and then everyone plays each person in their group. If you have say, 5 per group, then the 2 winningest battlers in each group will advance.

1-1 against Tristal and then he has to go out. I win the first battle, but he played a good second match and I were incredibly haxed in it with CHs an FPs.

IMPORTANT: I was thinking in the tournament and I realised that the 2nd/3rd seeds have an important advantage over the 1st. Due to the lack of a "bye" in the 4seed.vs.5seed, if the 1seed loses against the winner of the 4vs5 battle, then he has to battle against the loser. However, the loser of the 2seed.vs.3seed, advances automatically one round due to the "bye", to battle then with the 1seed. So, the first seed needs to win an extra battle to be in the SAME condition as teh 2/3 seed!!
The solution I have found is: Separate the fourths and fiveths seeds in a mini-double elimination tournament, so that the two finalist go to the final tournament. Is lake moving their first extra battle to a separate tournament.
Really I dont know if the format is correct, and the first seed has this "disadvantage" (they have the "advantage" of battling with a lower seeded though). Anyway I think that doube elimination tournaments with byes are very difficult to make.

No it's correct.
The first match for 1st is easy and the first match for 2nd/3rd is much harder. If 1st loses, they get another easy match. Really, if you do the best in your Pool, you shouldn't be losing to the people that did the worst.
Not to mention that the first battle is going to happen, and what might in the Loser's side is unlikely to. Also, if the Byes were switched, the loser of the 4th/5th matches would get a Bye, which is dumb since they didn't do well in Pools.
Don't worry Crystal, you'll do fine. =P

Ok th3 Icy, the main problem is that put byes in a D-E tourn. is not as easy as to put them in a S-E tourn, but lets continue with this anyway. I think that for the next tournament we have to be 8 or 16 in the tournament or use a previous round with the lowest seeds (a previous tournament) to determine the last 8 players.

Post by t3h Icy on Apr 26, 2010 10:32:05 GMT -8
I just wanted to use a number where some players could get Byes. I have ideas set that will work for tournament #3, so long as a decent number of players show up.
I'll start the thread for it once the bracket starts for this one.

I think that byes ore OK for S-E tourns. but no very good fore D-Es. And what abaut the Rankings? The OU tourn. has just finished, so we can start the ranking with these results. For example Finalists(1ºs)=400pts([500 winner+300p finalist]/2) 3º=180p 4º=108p 5ºs=60p 7ºs=20p Very similar to the ATP tennis tournaments (ATP 500 for those that understand abaut tennis).

I'm thinking something more along the lines of this:
4 Pools of 3 players each (only 3 sets per Pool to do, and easier to replace people). Then in the 16-player bracket, the 4 1st Seeds get Byes and 2nd/3rd Seeds are paired up. The only thing would be getting 12 players, but I'm certain it can be done.
Though if that doesn't work either, I'll look into your idea more in-depthly.

Another posibility in which the first seed is definitely who has the advantage (mini-problem: there is no difference between been 2 or 3, but everithing has cons). Agree abaut the Rankings?

2nd and 3rd Seeds would be different. In amount of battles, they'd be the same, but 2nd Seeders would have an easier first match since they play someone that did the worst.
Anywho though, we just have three more sets and one game before we can start the bracket.

I beat Subsmoke. I won the first one 3-0, then he beat me 1-0, then I beat him in the last one 1-0. At least I think those were the scores. Anyway, I did win 2 out of 3.
