while i'm used to trying to avoid it, today i found a situation where it's quite desirable (taken from a real game with the numbers fudged a bit): selfdestruct initially seemed sorta reasonable to me (after all, moar accuracy and ohkos everything including rhydon, right?), but if B doesn't switch to rhydon, B can then send out snorlax first and force A's tauros to flip a coin. especially if B is aware of the situation, they might choose to keep tauros in. to ensure that snorlax dies to rhydon and nothing else, i think hbeam is A's only move... even if it's not really a complicated situation, i haven't been in one exactly like it before and i was surprised at how good of an idea it can be to hbeam into goldon! well, this is kinda a silly thread. i thought it was cool though

For anyone who cares, the game was against me, and lilith won.
I need to start using Cloyster again, just to keep Tauros honest.

This would be an actual dilemma if Rhydon had enough HP to absorb a beam and set up a sub. As it stands, yeah, just Hbeam, let Rhydon kill you or whatever, then let Tauros just clean up. It's a strictly winning strategy for person A barring Hbeam misses, although granted Hbeam misses are not rare enough to dismiss them off-hand like that. Still, the slight uncertainty in the RNG is preferable to the vast uncertainty of guessing what your opponent will do.
