What I meany by misunderstood is that you feel that it's role is misunderstood, or that it's potential is misused etc.
I'd say aginite is the most misunderstood. It has so much more utility beyond being a late-game sweeper. It's incredibly dynamic in that it can fulfill multiple roles in the one battle, meaning it does so with the one moveset.
Also, the traditional moveset of blizzard-hyper beam is really dumb. Body slam-surf is much better.

I agree with you on the set, but his role as a mid-game threat is limited as long as you keep gar alive. Nevertheless, he's a beast late game, like i gave a proof in the quickchat earlier on.

I used to think that, until I would just wrap switch to rhydon or zam and force them to concede momentum. Against good players though it comes down to mindgames because they won't always leave gar in.

Well what I meant by mindgames is that both players have viable options, and neither player has one option that covers all their opponent's.
I don't think I ever said that prediction is completely non-existent at high-level play, just that it fades the higher the level. The higher the level, the more the player will mix up their switch patterns and the more they will chose sub-optimal options to throw off their opponent. You yourself said you prefer evaluation over prediction, and you're on the right track because that doesn't really fade with high level play.

If you dont run surf, you cant ohko rocks. OK you beat them 1v1 with blizzard, but dragonite will often take a hit to set up (eg. catching a hyper beam) or will take a hit earlier in the game.
Thunderbolt is a bit too niche in my opinion. Ices are still in effect beaten by wrap, and nody slam is the best overall damaging move nite has, and paraslams can be really clutch at times, though I dont like to rely on them.
