Hey guys, so I'm on a quest to complete the Pokedex in Pokemon Red (I am a bit ashamed to admit I never did finish that) and I need more game coins so I can buy Dratini and Porygon. I don't want to use any cheating in this run so I'm not just going to sell a bunch of duplicated Rare Candy's and buy the game coins.
Anyway, I've heard things like that there some slot are more favorable than others, or that have Chanseys on your team will increase your chances. However I haven't been able to find a guide to describe these things in better detail. Can any of you guys help me out?

Oh never mind! There are two tricks to it. 1) don't just mash the A button to stop the spinners as fast as possible. Wait a split second between stopping each one 2) try each slot about 4 times and if you miss 3 or 4 times move on to the next slot to find one with better odds
(I was able to find a hot slot this way and won over 900 coins!!)

If you want to complete the Pokédex without glitches you will either need a third game or to new game the other game you are using to trade for version exclusives in order to get all the Eevee evolutions.
Also save your master ball for Mewtwo. Good luck catching it without one! Oh and Mew can only be obtained with glitching or with a Game Shark.
Sorry I couldn't help with the slots. One fun fact is that Porygon costs 6500 coins in Blue Version while it costs 9999 in Red Version and Yellow Version according to Bulbapedia and Serebii.

Pssh! I don't need any Master Balls! Just watch me take on Mewtwo!
Also don't worry about the other games thing, I recently got a linker cable on ebay and I have my brother's old Blue copy as well as a friend who I can trade Pokemon with.

You can just buy the coins, even if you're not glitching. There's a lot of money available as you go through, and you can keep battling the Elite Four over and over to get even more. Also, you don't need to buy Dratini. You can fish for it in the Safari Zone. Throw two rocks at Dratini before throwing a Safari Ball to get the capture chance up. It'll probably run, but fishing doesn't use up your moves so you can try as many times as you need. Also save your master ball for Mewtwo. Good luck catching it without one! Spam Ice Beam (or Ice Punch from Jynx) until it's frozen, or sleep it with Exeggutor. Catch rate with an Ultra Ball while asleep or frozen is never under 1/6, no matter the Pokemon's HP. I caught it with an Ultra Ball; it's not hard. Blue is pretty much outright better than Red. The Red exclusives are Arbok, Vileplume, Primeape, Arcanine, Scyther and Electabuzz, while the Blue exclusives are Sandslash, Ninetales, Persian, Victreebel, Magmar and Pinsir. Electabuzz is better than Magmar, but Ninetales/Pinsir are generally better than Arcanine/Scyther and Sandslash/Victreebel/Persian blow Arbok/Vileplume/Primeape out of the water. And there's the reduced cost for Porygon.

Je je, I never stopped to think that the capture formula in RBY could be different than in the future generations. Magic always with the maths!
Still, I guess you might as well use a master ball so you don't have to fuss over getting a freeze and surviving Mewtwo's attacks, but it is good to know that the odds of cathing it without one can be decently high.
Also I second what magic9mushroom said about buying the coins instead of winning them. It might save you a lot of time, unless you enjoy the slots!

Well, the other times I could see it being worthwhile are the legendary birds or Snorlax. Articuno and Zapdos in particular hit very hard and it's a bit awkward to sleep them since so many sleepers are weak to their attacks. But Mewtwo's certainly a worthy target as well.
