Since Jynx kind of went out of business with Gengars roaming, do you think a non-sleeper Jynx could work? I'm thinking:
Ice Beam, Psychic, Body Slam, Counter/Mimic
Ice Beam over Blizzard particularly for Chansey. Me and Zilch we're mentioning that Freeze wars determine a good portion of the game, and perhaps there's an alternative. Jynx is the only Ice-type that isn't Electric weak.
However, Jynx can't exactly stand up to Thunderbolt or Thunder Wave, but she could cause a lot of pressure for Chansey to switch, and Jynx is versatile enough to handle most opponents. The only problem is Jynx is rather fragile and a paralyzed one is pretty much dead.
Thoughts?

Lovely Kiss is the only reason anybody should use Jynx. It has terrible staying power, and it's an inferior attacker compared to other Pokemon.
There's a difference between being unpredictable and inadequate.

I agree that jynx must be used with lovely kiss. However, if you choose not to lead with a sleeper, or if your gengar fails to put anything to sleep, jynx might find a place on your team.
Possible set: lovely kiss, counter, blizzard / ice beam, psychic / rest
You can switch in and use lovely kiss + counter, ice move for damage and freeze chance, psychic for lapras (and other water types) or rest for stalling.

Jynx isn't much of a staller.

Why is that? It takes very little damage from chansey and alakazam while it tries for a freeze.

She only has Rest to regain health, which causes her to lose 3 turns (if you include the turn used to use Rest) and take damage during 2 of them vs. a Chansey, or all 3 if vs. an Alakazam or if she's initially paralyzed, which is likely vs. a Chansey/Alakazam. The opponent can also switch to something like a Tauros or a Slowbro (to set up).
Chansey's Thunderbolt takes 5 hits to kill her, possibly 4, so Jynx won't be able to get many hits in after she gets to low health for the first time because of the turns lost using Rest. It's possible to drain PP with continuous Resting, but it's risky. Jynx would do well against a Chansey without Thunderbolt.
Against an Alakazam, Jynx can do a bit better. Jynx dies after 5 Psychics on average, but she can possibly take 6, though her special has a chance of being lowered. If Jynx uses Rest a lot here, she can drain Zam's PP and she can get some Ice Beam/Blizzards in, but the other player can just switch out. Also, if Zam has Seismic Toss, Jynx can't do much.
You also have to remember that Jynx has a high chance of getting paralyzed against these two, and that decreases her usefulness as a sleeper. She can Rest to remove the paralysis, but like I said, she'd take a high amount of damage during the process.
Basically, she's a decent staller, but there are others much better at it. She's more useful as a sleeper and a high-damage dealer with her STAB Blizzard. She may not be the best lead with the abundance of Gengars, but she can do well if she gets lucky against the 60% accuracy Hypnosis.
