Having a good lead is something that you NEED to do if you are expected to win. You can't win consistantly with a lead like Rhydon, for instance. But I want to know: What's the BEST lead?
I use Jynx, because it counters the all to common Exeggutor lead fairly well (Although it loses to Gengar... Psychic just isn't strong enough, and it's outsped and slept first). But is that a good idea or not?

good question, matt. the easy answer is this: there is no BEST first pokemon (that we know of). however....
there are two kinds of primary pokemon choices:
leads (usually sleepers) such as Gengar, Exeggutor, Jynx, Hypno, and singers. and anti-leads (counters to sleepers) such as Alakazam, Starmie, and Dugtrio (lol Ninetales).
Your choice of a lead or anti-lead depends on what you like best: sleeping early with a lead, or forcing switches and taking some control of the field early with an anti-lead.
i personally prefer leads (sleepers) over anti-leads. you need to experiment to decide. refer to the link Post provided if you want some individual analyses of leads.
also, glad you're here!
