Some of you know me, some you you might not.
I've been about on the GameFAQs R/B/Y boards since around 2000, and have a member of both TVsIan's Netbattle forums (until they died...), and Smogon for years. I'm still active on the GameFAQs boards, and still (mostly) lurk at Smogon.
Half the reason I'm here now is the recent merging Smogon have done. I have a word for the way they merged generations 1, 2 & 3, but it's not polite...
In terms of my history with netbattle, I've used it since the days it was pure G/S/C, and helped beta-test the first 2 releases with R/B/Y support - I also hosted the first ever R/B/Y mode server on version 0.9.3, and 0.9.4 for a short while before another guy took over.
Unfortunately, I got out of touch with Netbattle, when my internet died for a couple of years, and my old scripts were rendered defunct with 0.9.5 - I doubt I still have the scripts (despite having the install for that version of NB somewhere...), but I could look.

Well Netbattle is in a coma, but still kicking, and you're always welcome to play with us. =) If you do get interested in playing at high level, we also have several members (including myself) that will be willing to help you out.
Great to have you here. n_n

I'd need to reinstall NB, but I'm happy to join in for some fun battling. I guess you can count me in if you need to even up the numbers in any tournaments (assuming the battles are at GMT-friendly times), although my opponents would likely have an easy time.
I'm far from being a competitive battler, but somehow, 2 of my custom movesets have since become standards. Check the Beedrill & Nidoking listings on Smogon. The original Nidoking moveset, IIRC, had Rock Slide instead of Body Slam - With boltbeam, I felt RS was redundant, and used BS instead. It caught on...
My Nidoking's first ever appearance in competitive, IIRC, was in a tournament on Porygon PBS away back when electrics were common starters, and I lead with the king.
EDIT : I mentioned my old Beedrill vs Mewtwo link-battle win in the chatbox. Some of the people familiar with me might know the details, but here's the basic's for the people that don't.
I originally got introduced to the Pokemon games by a friend in early 1999. Eventually, I managed to get a squad strong enough to try in a link-battle. The squads we both picked were so generic that I can't even remember what they were - just the last 2 Pokemon on each team. The game to that point had been relatively even - every time one of the Pokemon got KO'd, the other player's followed no more than 2 turns later.
Simply put, I used a Raichu to KO my opponent's Charizard, and he moved in a Mewtwo he'd sneaked in & kept for last. Knowing full well that raichu wouldn't last long, I used Thunder Wave before the rat died.
Out pops my trusty "powerdrill" - with me expecting it to die on the word go. I used Twineedle, & Mewtwo was Fully Paralysed. Then the battle wandered into the realm of unbelievable luck.
Every time my opponent tried to attack beedrill in any way - he got a "Fully paralysed" message. He got out a single recover in the match before the Mewtwo eventually died.
3 days later, he restarted his game & never battled me again outside Stadium...

I'm stupid lenient with tournament deadlines, so that's not a problem. We have other Europeans (Inf (happy birthday) and Crystal), and they've never had any concerns with getting matches done.
Also, we do have some veteran players here that you may know too, such as Zilch, GGFan and Nitro, but for the most part, the community is made up of newschool players.

I know GGFan of old (and he certainally knows me from gameFAQs - heck we chatted on AIM just a few months ago) and I recognise Nitro, although I don't think I've ever talked with him directly.
Zilch, I don't think I know, unless it's by a different name.
I've added in the details about the beedrill's lucky win in my previous post, for those that don't understand what started my preference for the bee, lol. For reference, "Powerdrill" just refers to the moveset (after all, the basic tactic IS to "Power up" with SD & Agility THEN attack) that since became standard somehow... Most "Standard" Beedrill sets before then used CUT as a move for some reason.

Welcome, bud. Nice to see you on here as well. Seems WW is carefully advertising under the radar.

We don't need hormonal 12-year olds, Ian.

Most of us are around 20 anyway, though we have a couple younger players.
You're still old though. =P

That, I'll admit.
Even on GameFAQs, I'm only aware of 2 other (former) posters on the boards that were older than me.
"Pokedad" vanished around the time I first went there, while a user named "Pokemom" claimed to be even older when she frequented the G/S/C boards. Neither of those users knew each other, apparantly.
In real life, I know of only 4 other people close to my age that played (and still do to some degree, although only the newer games) the Pokemon series. Only I seem to have the preference for the classics.
