I came up with an idea while doing some writing: non-sleeper Parasect. What would that look like?Well, I'm personally running Body Slam, Swords Dance, Leech Life and Stun Spore, but Mega Drain and Hyper Beam have potential too. Why would someone want to use that?Primarily, the thing that caught my eye was the combination of a healing move paired with a stat boosting move. The four healing moves are Absorb, Mega Drain, Dream Eater and Leech Life, and Parasect is the only Pokemon that learns one with a stat boosting move. Now obviously Parasect won't function well just because of that, but additional things make it work. 288 Attack with Swords Dance is pretty powerful, and Parasect is the only Pokemon with a Bug move, not weak to Psychic (excluding Jolteon). On top, Parasect has high enough Special to take any two Psychics. Alakazam's Psychic - 164-140 (51%-43%) Not to mention you'll be healing with Leech Life. Parasect without Swords Dance does about 25% against Alakazam, and about 27% against Exeggutor. With Swords Dance, not only are you doing twice as much damage, but you're healing twice as much. Body Slam is for non-Psychics such as Chansey, and I like Stun Spore to paralyze the opponent if needed. Spore could work to if you want to create more of a pressure game. Like that'll ever work!O RLY? Granted, Parasect requires at a turn per how many Swords Dance you want to use. Personally, two is the most you'll need, since the difference between 864 and 999 isn't phenomenal. The only Pokemon that would be insta-switch are Zapdos and some Ice types. Golem and Rhydon can be dealt with using Mega Drain, but it doesn't OHKO. So what do you guys think? Could it work? Is there are a flaw? Would it be too hard to setup? So far I'm 3-0 since using Parasect and hopefully I can extend that record.

I don't think you understand how much I hate you now.
Also, that was only one of the games we played. Parasuck did nothing for you the first game. Didn't do too much the second either if I recall correctly.

Like other SDers it needs a free turn to be effective, and needs a lot of paralysis support. Not to mention that if it gets paralyzed it will become rather useless. I'd personally go with SD, Leech Life, Spore/Mega Drain and Hyper Beam.

Didn't do too much the second either if I recall correctly. The main thing was Parasect ran into a Snorlax critical, but otherwise, Parasect could have survived another turn, and possibly another if he won the Speed tie and sapped more HP with Leech Life. Also I don't mean any disrespect, sorry. >_> I'm just really excited that it has been working. I'm going to keep trying it and see.

Annnnnnd I got rocked by players expecting it (SubSmoke and Crystal).
Oh well, it's an idea and works kind of like a modified Sandslash for anyone else that wants to try it.

Tangela learns Growth and Mega Drain.

Growth is only +1 Special though, Swords Dance is +2 Attack.

And Growth Tangela gets walled by Eggy.

I was just pointing out that Parasect is in fact not the only one who learns a healing attack with a stat-up move.
Do consider that Growth boosts Special A and Special D, turning Tangela into something similar to a Reflect Chansey.
I like both these pokemon. Too bad Parasect isn't bulkier and neither of them learn a stronger stab.
Also, I think Leech Life is ONLY viable when it gets a x 4 boost. Even at double super effective, it's still only 80 power. Used against anyone but Eggy/Venu/Viccy/Vile it won't get any HP back, and Body Slam will always do more (and may paralyze).
Parasect is another example of a cool and unique pokemon who is utterly screwed in RBY (along with Aerodactyl and Flareon, etc).

If only there were any good bug type moves in RBY, Parasect could actually be a real pain in the butt for psychics out there.

Spore is really the only reason to use Parasect. Without it, you're left with a sweeper -- physical or special -- that's clearly outclassed by everything else.

I was pleased to see Parasect in Grand Finals of UU. Kabutops was also there (though I think Kingler would have been much better since EQ ended up killing Kabutops).
