Hey everybody,
Found Netbattle and, almost immediately afterwards, this forum by googling when I wanted to know if there still are people on the internet who play RBY competitively.
My story is pretty simple. I got into Pokemon as a kid, and for many years it was the only game I ever played. I did some competitive battling on irc, mostly GSC but managed to play some Gen 1 as well (I was never any good at either though). When RS came out, I played the hell out of my Sapphire game and lost interest in the series for years. I renewed my interest in the series and my search for a place to get back on tracks brought me here, naturally.
I've managed to play several dozen RBY OU matches already, in spite of supposedly having a shortage of free time? idk how that worked out. Some of you might recognise my name from the ATQ server; regardless, I can recognise the names of the people I've already challenged.
Just wanted to thank everyone who has been patient to play me despite it not being much of a challenge yet (sometimes I downright suck when I try to experiment with a new team or strategy, but I guess that's better than sticking to the same Smogon sets copied uncritically and without thought). I'm especially grateful to Crystal who has explained a lot to me and whom I have played the most.
Anyway, I signed up because I thought taking regular part in tourneys would help me get a good grip of the RBY metagame. I should probably remain quiet on my stay on these forums because I'm very talkative in nature, and that in a combination with the lack of knowledge and skill in the thing that this forum is dedicated, is sure to lead to annoyance. So I'm just going to be patient and learn slowly (I remember from a good decade ago how much Pokemon players on the internet rage over n00bs, though that was at the time when most players were still in their early teens and the competitive is quite a bit more mature nowadays from my observations).
