Hypno

I play tradebacks with my friends on Stadium every so often, and Hypno is considered the #1 threat. Hence, I give him a lot of love. But in a pure RBY environment, his usefulness is nerfed quite a bit. I'm wondering how to effectively incorporate Hypno into an OU team. 373 HP / 328 SPC / 238 DEF, and outspeeds Lead Exeggutor. Other leads can't do very much to it outside sleeping or paralyzing it. From my limited time using him, I find him getting PRZed more often than not against Zam on turn 1. I assume the best way to use Hypno is as a lead that Hypnosis's everything except Gengar, running Hypnosis, Psychic, T-Wave, and Rest. Other options are Seismic Toss for Alakazam and Psychics or an (un)expected counter on Lax/Tauros. Body Slam / Hyper Beam exist. Hypno's ATK is a bit worse than Starmie's, so probably no. Reflect for late game physical sweepers. How can I turn Hypno into a useful team player that isn't just an outclassed Zam, Eggy or Chansey? What is good to run with Hypno? How does Hypno fair against each OU PKM, and what are strategies to use with him? I imagine his main jobs are to sleep 1, spread PRZ, and sponge special, and I use him with a 2nd sleeper for reliability. Thanks for any help - I love Hypno and think he can be used effectively, but I just need to know how.

Here, Nitro summed up why Hypno is one of the better leads in the game. It spans numerous posts, but in summation: Hypno eats sleep, wakes up well, and has a sleep move of its own along with the speed to beat egg. It doesn't really apply much pressure from turn 1, though, and I personally have to agree with his assessment that Jynx is the overall #1 lead. However, if you're looking for a sleep absorber and nothing more, Hypno's probably your best bet.

Hypno isn't the absolute number one in Tradebacks, but he's definitely OU then. He can stall out with Rest, but Seismic Toss eventually takes him out (in combination with Thunder Wave).

Yeah, Hypno isn't used as much as he should be in OU. Hypnosis + counter is pretty deadly as well.
