So we're over a year old now and a lot has changed since. Keeping up with the semi-annual clean-up, I've moved all old discussions and threads into one place. If there's anything I moved that you feel shouldn't have been, just PM me or say so otherwise, and I'll put it back.
Anyway, we're not changing colours again as the gray and blue seem to work really nice together. However, I'm putting the banner:
...up for replacement again. Like I've said, I'm no graphic artist, and if you feel like designing one, I'll put it up over mine.
One of the other main things is I've created a Pokemon Specific Discussion sub-board in RBY General. Basically, any of the Pokemon you think has potential, or want to push for everything a Pokemon has, feel free to do some in-depth discussion there. An example would be analyzing and considering where Butterfree can be useful being the only Flying Pokemon with a Sleep move, etc. I'm pretty sure nothing revolutionary will be discovered, but trying to see what's possible with a few Pokemon is definitely neat. Think Subsmoke's Victreebel, Nerd's Kingler or my Aerodactyl.
The other biggie is RBYPlus. WaterWizard and myself have thought up ideas and worked on it for months with the help of the other staff members, and lately we've had a lot of interest come from Isa, Consumptus and DragonAura. If you want to contribute some ideas, just post in the thread, or make one of your own. It's a community project, and we'd love some input.
But more about it, we've actually been having some RBYPlus matches happening done by using random number generators on Harrison's server and playing paper and pen style. If you know the damage formula and other various calculations, it's something you might want to give a try.
Though it of course would be a lot better playing it properly. As far as I know, it's not realistically possible with implementing it into Netbattle, but fortunately, Pokemon Online will be including RBY soon, and I'm planning on making the RBYPlus mod with some of the files. I'm not sure yet, but I'm expecting that players will have to have a separate installation to play, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Likewise, I think our community would be very helpful in bug hunting for Pokemon Online. =)
And onto more current stuff, the OU Tournament is going very well and we've had a ton of upsets and hype matches so far, and there's still plenty of tournament left! If you've got matches to do, please try to get them done when you can.
Now, I wasn't planning to host a tournament for April, but with how quickly the tournament has gone (considering its size and our usual efforts into get them done), I'll be hosting a tournament for April. I don't want to drift too far from OU, and I want to keep it small, so it will be auto-seeded, but random bracket. I'm thinking of going with No Sleep Clause, and while that just sounds like a Sleep fest, Sleep moves are rather inaccurate to use repeatedly, and Pokemon like Dugtrio, Ninetales and other Sleep counters may make some appearances. It will also be Single-Elimination, so make sure you learn it fast!
The bracket will be random, but I'll make up the seeding based on previous tournaments. Currently our top placing players are Zilch, Crystal and WaterWizard, so they'll get priority for Byes, etc.
Anyway, I'm really happy with how things have gone and are still going. We're not going to be changing much since how things are working seem to be going really well. I think the next major change will be when RBYPlus becomes possible, but that could still be awhile from now.
And to any new RBY players such as Isa, if you want some training, just ask and we'll be willing to help you. You'll learn fast, I promise (and I think Isa will be our next rising star ;>).
I think that's everything. Any questions or whatever about anything, just ask.
