Talk trash and stuff, just like we did before The Big Nuke. Not that I have anything to contribute with right now, but it's fun to see Jorgen picking up the old moderator tradition of "get frustrated by Dre".

OH my gourd like I can't really even claim to disagree with him because it's just like what is he even talking about?

It's not a bad concept for a thread, but of course since Dre is from another planet, the points he brings up to try and spur discussion are incomprehensible and very Wrap-centric.

Agent posted in it. I want to add something about how he uses Starmie to capitalize on Chansey switches, but talk about how prediction isn't important...but, yeah.

I recommended GGFan over Dre for RBY gym leader on PO, but added the ban history that I know of from 2K10/PO. We'll see what happens.

I probably woulda recommended Dre over GGFan tbh. GGFan's certainly the better player, but with his history I wouldn't have been so quick to recommend him even with his good behavior as of late. He's been transiently well-behaved in the past, but eventually things would go south again. Meanwhile Dre is kinda obnoxious with his hijacking of literally every RBY discussion with "WRAP lol", but he's a capable enough player and I can't see him doing what GGFan might if he lost a game due to bad luck or got a troll trying to push his buttons during a match.

I dunno about you, but I didn't encounter any trolls as a gym leader. Dre's certainly a "safer" choice, and I mentioned that as well. I mentioned his tendencies to get into debates too, and that it probably won't happen here. We'll see what they do. They were leaning towards GGFan prior to me informing them of what he had done, but they said that they were kinda iffy on him.

Hahahaha.
"This may be out of the blue, but after deliberation, Heather and I would like to ask you whether you would be interested in taking up the mantle of RBY OU leader."
They apparently weren't happy with either of the choices given. I didn't even submit an application... (I accepted)

Welp, good luck in that role!
Anyway, you might not have seen trolls, but I guarantee that GGFan would have.

Are you not allowed to clause Wrap because PO is being stricter about what rules you use with Gyms this time around? Or are you willingly braving the Wrap storm?

I feel that I have no business enforcing my own rules when the community has so far shown that it prefers to have Wrap legal, and thus, my gym should have Wrap legal. I've written a text about how I pledge not to use Wrappers and that I encourage my opponents to do the same, but that I won't count it against them if they'd do so. The only reason I felt able to ban Wrap last time around was because the move was very broken back then, but now Wrap is mostly fixed.
Anyway, I'm 6-1 in game wins so far. It's something.

aaaand he got banned from the PO forums for that very post (which is now deleted)
Granted he had pre-existing infractions, but still, an infraction for what's obviously a joke seems kinda harsh.

Not everyone does them.
Either way, the spreadsheet is done. Feel free to take a look and see if you find any errors.

I don't want to post this in the logs thread because I figure M Dragon might be a bit salty (and understandably so, his Pokemon were very poorly trained), but at the same time the beginning of this game is too ridiculous not to share so I figure I'll post it here:
Battle between Jorgen and M Dragon started!
Tier: RBY OU Mode: Singles Rule: Rated Rule: Sleep Clause Rule: Freeze Clause Rule: Species Clause Variation: +19, -13
Jorgen sent out Alakazam! M Dragon sent out Exeggutor! Aurist is watching the battle.
Start of turn 1 Alakazam used Thunder Wave! The foe's Exeggutor is paralyzed! It may be unable to move!
The foe's Exeggutor used Sleep Powder! The attack of the foe's Exeggutor missed!
Start of turn 2 Alakazam used Seismic Toss! The foe's Exeggutor lost 25% of its health! Aurist stopped watching the battle.
The foe's Exeggutor is paralyzed! It can't move!
ABR is watching the battle.
Start of turn 3 Alakazam used Seismic Toss! The foe's Exeggutor lost 25% of its health!
The foe's Exeggutor used Sleep Powder! The attack of the foe's Exeggutor missed!
Start of turn 4 Alakazam used Seismic Toss! The foe's Exeggutor lost 25% of its health!
The foe's Exeggutor is paralyzed! It can't move!
Start of turn 5 M Dragon called Exeggutor back! M Dragon sent out Starmie!
Alakazam used Seismic Toss! The foe's Starmie lost 30% of its health! Jorgen: lucky me
Start of turn 6 Alakazam used Thunder Wave! The foe's Starmie is paralyzed! It may be unable to move!
The foe's Starmie is paralyzed! It can't move!
Start of turn 7 Alakazam used Seismic Toss! The foe's Starmie lost 30% of its health!
The foe's Starmie is paralyzed! It can't move!
Start of turn 8 Alakazam used Seismic Toss! The foe's Starmie lost 30% of its health!
The foe's Starmie is paralyzed! It can't move!
Start of turn 9 Alakazam used Seismic Toss! The foe's Starmie lost 7% of its health! The foe's Starmie fainted! M Dragon sent out Snorlax!
We ended up playing the whole thing out. A couple of lucky breaks later (not on the level of this opening, but still salt on the wound) led to me cruising to a 5-0 win.
Also RE damage calcs: cool, interesting, but tell me, why would I use them and not the damage calc from Azure Heights or NBS?

With this, why would you ever go to Azure Heights or anywhere else? My goal is to be able to look up everything and find the answer at once in a convenient way. I don't want to have to enter what's required of me to look up how much damage Zapdos takes from BSlam/Blizzard coming from Tauros, for example. With a calc, you're forced to remember that Zapdos has 268 defense - no need for that if it's already done.
Basically, convenience. I am gonna look into possibilities of making this a big .txt, change the format a bit, upload it to somewhere and have everything being easily searchable through Ctrl+F.

I gotcha, it's just that right now it looks like an awfully intimidating spreadsheet and I know I'd rather just type in a few numbers than suss through that.

For me it works out. Physical attacks to the left, special ones to the right. Color coded to show O/2/3/4/5HKOs. Then again I created it, so...

And thus another crappy agentsyrup/Crystal topic is over. GGFan wrote this as a response to my latest post in the Elo topic. I deleted it and sent him a warning - not because it's the worst he has written but because it's the latest in line. Magic9mushroom sent me a PM a few weeks ago when GGFan said he was Dre's alt, asking for me to keep him in check, and I agree with him that he has been allowed by me to run too loose.

Sooooo what happened to the RBY Pokemon guides project? There's all these threads with nothing but Icy posting the Pokemon's names. What's also weird is we have another subforum called "Pokemon Analyses" that basically seems to do the same thing (only less organized of course), although a lot those could be revived for some updating/fixing and to boost activity round these parts again.
I figure it'd also be good to explicitly outline what exactly will differentiate these guides from other sites' like smogon's.

That was started by WW and Icy just before they left. They posted one guide publicly but ended up in a big Dre argument. Icy got mad and moved to the Black Hole, and I think that was his last post in public.
I have no real plans on working on the guides for now. They are supposed to be way more in depth than the Smogon ones. Check the dodrio one- I think Icy finished that.

That didn't look super-detailed. It looked concise. Which is nice!
But yeah I think Dre's calmed down a bit so I'd say it's safe to start working on them. I can take the lead on it, primarily focusing on OU mons first, if you're okay with it. I can outline my specific plans for it here if you need more info.

I'm interested in hearing what you have in mind. Not in terms of what mons you plan on writing up, rather your angle of approach.

All right, so I assume these guides are more or less intended to scrounge up all the data on this site into one neat little section. At the same time, they shouldn't just be repositories of information, people should ideally be able to skim over them and know how these Pokemon fit into RBY (OU, UU, whatever). So, I figure these analyses will be organized in a series of sections that each give a chunk of information. Something like this:
MISSINGNO #000 STATS: cba to look it up right now OVERVIEW: Missingno is a powerful sweeper in the Missingno tier. However, outside of the Missingno tier, it performs quite poorly. SETS: Missingno Tier:Name: THE DESTROYER -Fly -Water Gun -Water Gun Description: Missingno is a force to be reckoned with in the Missingno tier. Sky Attack will destroy any other Pokemon in the tier, given Missingno's high Attack stat and the fact that nothing in the tier has a respectable Defense stat. Water Gun is there twice as filler, but can help in PP stalls. Matchups: | Walled By | Does Heavy Damage To | Walls | missingno | missingno | Takes Heavy Damage from | missingno | missingno |
*notes about potential slashes will go here, as will notes about tricky matchups (for example, sleepers [but not wrappers, since I plan to continue to have these analyses be about wrap-free RBY]) --"heavy damage" will of course be defined better --only include the major players of the tier in this table, of course. I don't want to see matchups versus Kingler in OU, for example. [Replicate this for multiple sets] [replicate for multiple tiers] ADVANCED TOPICS: Alternate move analyses for Missingno Tier: You could try Fly to dodge an opposing Missingno's Sky Attack. This is bound to save you 50% of the time. However, your odds of outright beating an opposing missingno by just using Sky Attack on the first turn are roughly the same, so Fly is a strictly inferior option. Matchup Analyses for Missingno Tier: Something in lieu of the kind of stuff such as Alakazam versus Tauros we have floating around here.
Ideally I'd have it in spoiler tags too to let people just see what they want to see but man how I forgot how to do that here. Basically, the idea is to have a section for the basics so that beginners can quickly get a feel for what each pokemon does, and another section for advanced topics that you're only really worried about once you've gotten your feet wet.

This all looks good. The matchup chart currently confuses me a bit, but I suppose if we were to put Gengar there instead of Missingno, it'd look something like this?: Gengar Matchups: | Walled By | Does Heavy Damage To | Walls | Chansey? | Persian | Takes Heavy Damage from | Alakazam | Tauros |
Am I doing it right?
